We, the undersigned, demand that our National Portrait Collection be housed in Ottawa, our Nation's Capitol, as befitting the importance of the collection, in a publically funded and publically run institution. It is time for the Government of Canada to appreciated the significance of culture in the building and preserving of our national character. By removing this collection from the public domain and by situating it outside Ottawa, the government demeans the contribution of art and artists to heritage of the country.

Carole Sabiston, Canada7 years ago Comments: The National Portrait Gallery MUST be in our nation's CAPITAL CITY, --- OTTAWA, as all other nations keep their history close to the seat of government. This I will visit, -- not elsewhere.
