We the undersigned, strongly believe in local community based public education. The education provided in SouthEast Oakville has been exemplary and there is no justification for closing our schools. We do not support closing our existing community schools to fund a new school in Clearview which has a declining student population. We strongly support Investing in the existing Ward 3 schools, which the Board has neglected for years with threats of closure. We believe it is fiscally irresponsible to spend millions of dollars to build a new school when existing schools have the capacity for all children in Ward 3 Or go to www.myoakville.org and click on petition to sign

SE Resident - Former Chisholm Parent, Canada2 years ago Comments: Why do I doubt that the above comment is from a student? Macs, smart boards, etc. don't have to come at the cost of losing walk-to schools. Even moronic school trustees know that. I assume you are a former Maple Grove "student" who was more than pleased when the school stayed open (and - bonus - English just as you wanted it!) only new & improved. Your tune would be somewhat different if your school had closed and you had to now catch a bus, and your "parents" property value had decreased. Also imagine that your "parents" also specifically moved close to a walk-to school with much better EQAO scores than MG (and almost all of Halton), only to have the school close two years later.
Current student at Maple Grove P.S., Canada3 years ago Comments: This is the most current signature (February 2012). I am a student in the new addition of maple grove P.S.. The new part is magnificent, we are still a family just bigger. I have also visited James W. Hill, it is magnificent also with new technology. Why stick with small schools with ugly chalk boards while you can go to present day reality and go to big schools with macs and smart boards?
