Comments: government officials need to be reminded that the public lands are just that, public, and responsible use should be allowed without government interference. the public pays for these lands not the governing bodies because public lands are not on the tax roles, they are just on the back of the taxpayers, and therefore shold be able to be used by the public in responsile ways, including recreational metal detecting, and recreational mining.

Comments: DNR is in dire need of a thorough reorganization and political housecleaning. DNR has to be put in check with control being returned to the people of Wisconsin. Remove the elitist bunch now!

Comments: There has never been a problem with responsible metal detectors being used in Wisconsin, and there's no reason to end the system that worked so well for so long. Let us use them again!

Comments: A license that could be revoked would work for me. The DNR has real problems like the drunk drivers to manage not some Hobiest that wants to enjoy the outdoors; and a code of ethics to follow.

Comments: Santa brought us a metal detector for Christmas after many years of saving up and now we find that we cant use it! Unfair. Someone's lost watch is not an archelogical artifact.

Comments: I wanted to have some fun with my daughter (budding rock hound and gold prospector) but it sounds like we wont be able to have this hobby. That would really be a shame. Is there anything we CAN do in our own state?
