Name: Trudy Murray on Sep 17, 2007Comments: The gentrification of my upper west side has destroyed small independent businesses, and made it impossible for poor and working people to continue to live there. I have worked in west Harlem for 20 years and I don't want to see this wonderful, historic neighborhood to face the same fate. Gentrification takes away anything cultural and fills a neighborhood large chain stores who can pay for the property.Flag

They all make sure they save their heritage and history. We need to do the same. Anyone who is in power, or has the money to help save Harlem, please come forward.Flag

Let's hope all real New Yorkers PRESERVE this wonderful part of New York City. Instead of contributing to the destruction by those hungary folks whose only goal is to raise the price of real estate that makes this neighborhood so expensive that we can no longer afford to live here.Flag
