Additional Comments: This is my personal opinion and not necessarily the opinion of organisations of which I am a member. Why the church say it feels "hounded" is rather a surprise. They have refused to reply to polite requests by both councillors and local groups asking to meet again. The first meeting at a Neighbourhood Committee meeting was very amicable and encouraging for everyone. The church was offered support for their then proposed restoration and offered partnering for educational workshops. Councillors, local groups and local residents were reassured and looking forward to helping the church any way possible. So it came a rather a surprise when the church ignored emails and has refused to engage with anyone. Their recent comments about keeping true to the building flies in the face of the planning application which tries to replicate the visual frontage of their main church overseas. They seem to have no understanding of what being in a conservation zone means and sadly have not talked to anyone. Councillors would have been and no doubt still are more than willing to explain planning requirements and community expectations for the critically important heritage building.

Additional Comments: We have witnessed over the decades the almost total destruction of cinema buildings in the borough which are as much part of Hackney's historical identity as its partly saved Non-Conformist topography in this area.
