Dr Nicholas HileySuch survivals from the earliest days of cinema are rare, and should be preserved as an important part of British social history. Moving pictures are a vital part of modern British culture, and this is where they began.

elizabeth chapmanI am most supportive of the establishment of a community cinema, and anything that helps Hackney regain the cultural history of its past The success of the Hackney Empire Theatre is a gem in Hackneys battered crown, and evidence that there is a real need for more cultural activities, and for Hackney to receive monies from whatever source as an apology to the wanton destruction of its identity and of its buildings in the 1960's. Wanton destruction, not war damage, and Hackney is definiely owed an apology in financial recompense.

AnonymousThe heritage of London, especially the East End should be retained and maintained
William ChapmanThe cinema should be restored as part of the general scheme of local improvements which has already demonstrated great value to the community. it would be a tragedy to surrender this building to the squalor of a mean development.

ISABELLE MAJDANDZICI feel strongly that we need to preserve the wonderful architecture of this historic building for future generations. And also to have a place where the youth of today can go too and enjoy themselves would keep them off the streets.
nicole BrahamHeritage buildings should be preserved and used to full potential.local people need to have theatre and cinema for their use
Anonymousi really beleive that we should try to preserve buildings that look slightly older to preserve the classic london "look". i also think this cinema looks more inviting and has more life than perhaps a new cinema would!
karen NewmanI think it would be such a huge shame to loose such an historically valuable asset to the local community. Preserving heritage is vastly beneficial especially for cultural and artistic life enhancing reasons.
Wai Tsze ChengThe cinema is great for the local people in the community. Therefore, i am strongly recommended that it should be saved.
Mohammed Al AbadieVery important for the local community
Martin TurnerI think it is an important part of the local community and would be great if it was reinstated as a cinema
