The Catholic church will be losing many followers and this bitterness at ripping away our beloved church and wonderful Priest and Sister will force me to look at other ways to worship God . This inner city church represents many diverse backgrounds and traditions that I thought was the foundation of our Catholic religion. The other atrocity is Bishop Lennon did not prepare the congregation and didnot follow the recommendations of the cluster committee. It must be personal and this is not over yet, because this is very personal to many of us too.Flag

During these difficult times the people in the city face so much hardship and taking this church away I believe is an injustice!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 16, 2009Comments: If you close this Parish anyone who has to walk to church will be left out and you are basically telling them not to go to church. This magnigicant structure needs work and owes money but it is now time for you and the diocese to step in and save it not close it down. I spent over 40 hours a week as a volunteer and the inner city children we serve will have nowhere to turn and we will end up with more crime. I thought it was in the best interest of the church to keep the younger children involved in the parish or at least keep them off the streets even if they are not catholic. How do expect us to run our High School Youth Group and RICA with no parish. The money that the Diocese as a whole had to spend for Virtus training and fingerprinting alone because of what the priest did could have save enough money to help out a parish of this nature. WE as individulas paid for the mistakes of the Church that we are to turn to. It is a total disgrace on what you have done!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 16, 2009Comments: Dear Bishop Lennon, Although not of the Catholic faith, I have been involved in the St. Ignatius community for more than thirty years through a youth organization within the same community. The closing of St. Ignatius would be a devastaing blow to this community and the people it serves, specifically the youth. This parish has a thriving youth program and a group of volunteers dedicated to working with them to help them grow and mature not only physically but spiritually. St. Ignatius serves the poor and the aged in this community and provides the support required in difficult times. Its architechture is impressive but more importantly its active members are spritual backbone of this community. I strongly urge you to reconsider the decision to close St. Ignatius of Antioch! Name: Erica on Mar 16, 2009Comments: My neighborhood NEEDS this church. The diocese is closing the two closest Catholic churches in my neighborhood (St. Ignatius & St. Rose - merging, but building is closing). The Catholic dioscese talks about praying with others and getting together to worship. But where can I go now I will no longer be able to hear the beautiful melody of church bells in my neighborhood as they will both be silenced. Please re-think the decision to close St. Ignatius Of Antioch!Flag

Name: Justin S. Thomas on Mar 16, 2009Comments: St. Ignatius of Antioch is not only where I began my Catholic education, its not only where I received several sacraments, including marrying my wonderful wife, but St Ignatius is a shining symbol of hope is a community that desparately needs that hope. The closure of St Ignatius would appear to be an instance of the diocease turning its back on the parishoners and communities that need it most. On top of all of this, St Ignatius is clearly one of the most beautiful churches in Cleveland, truly a landmark, if there ever was one. Please, reconsider the closure of this critical piece of the Cleveland diocease.Flag

How can you justify leaving a CATHOLIC school open and not have a church for these youngsters to attend, learn in, become a part of and grow their faith Closing down Ignatius would be an injustice to this community.Flag
