Mrs I Barlow | Why is it that people who ask fthe least from society seem to get precisely that. I think this act is shameful

JOHN E PLUMB | Respect for our elders, distinguishes us from the rest of the animal kingdom. In an age where older people are living longer & there are more of them, it beggars belief that significant numbers of homes for the elderly are scheduled to be closed. Will you kindly explain your madness?

susannah chard-beech | save our day centres, they are a vital component of PCP packages for our service users and one of their only trining and social networks.
June O'Connor |
Selwyn Brown | It all seems so heartless as those affected are eldely and weak and unable to defend themselves.

Les Bentley | My wife and I are disgusted by the uncaring / dishonest people who made this decision without having the decency to discuss first with the carers and relatives who are involved
Bob Rankin | Being the Campaign Manager for the "Shame On You" Saving May Place - Staffordshire's Only Day Care Centre for Suffers of Dementia & Alzheimer's Disease I would like to think that by supporting this electronic petition I would be supporting ours!
Anonymous | These provisions must be retained , it is crucial and is a lifeline to the elderly and day care centres are a lifeline to clients and their carers in giving some respite , care and safety .

Richard Taylor | disgraceful! yet another disgusting cut to an essential service when savings could surely be made from other non-essential areas!

Anthony Hibbs | What else can this County Council do wrong! I suppose this is not a cost cutting exercise either!
Peter Rofe | More Public Service cuts. New Labour balancing the books at the expense of Carers, Care-workers and the Elderly. Has this Government no shame.
Cllr Stephen Sweeney |
Cllr Stephen Ellis | I am appalled by the heartless action of Staffordshire County Council. In Cheadle, three centres will close - the Lightwood Nirsing home, the Cheadle Day Centre and the Newlands home for the mentally ill. These are vital community services and they will be closed without a single element of consultation. So much for partnership working. It's an absolute disgrace. The sooner Mr Dix and his merry men are removed from County the better. They're leaving the Council in financial meltdown and they're destroying Staffordshire. We should close them down instead.

Peter Durkin | Replacing excellent care home and day services with cheaper services is not "best value". If you buy cheap, you get cheap. So the Government and County Councils think they can get away with messing around with all our lives and our money and our wishes? How arrogant.
Kate Dingwall | The care provided is absolutely essential to the local community and its residents.
David Brown |
Adele Richards | It is absolutely shamful that te care that this is being considered. We should be taking greater steps to look after our ever increasing elderly population not going backwards by cutting the care that they receive

Pat Wiles | I am appalled at the decision to close old peoples homes. By definition a home is a place of safety, i cannot believe how they must feel when told their home will close. The very first thing they must feel is fear " Where am I going?" " What are they going to do with me?" I am ashamed to live in a country that treats it,s old people this way. Other countries must look at us with horror. When in Spain I said to a friend how cruel it was to leave animals behind when people left to go home, She quickly answered and said Spanish people might not look after animals but they look after old people. English people look after their pets but not their old people. I felt ashamed.
