I'm American (of Scot-Irish ancestors) and saved my hard earned money for years in order to make my dream of visiting Newgrange true. If I had seen a road bisecting the fields, my experience of the sacredness and beauty of the area would be ruined.Flag

Name: Kevin Mulligan on Jan 27, 2010Comments: It is a loathsome act that Ireland (or any Nation) put profit ahead of their culture a is being done in the Boyne Valley. Considering that Newgrange and it's surrounding archeological sites have been in existence LONGER than the Pyramids, The actions of Minister Gormley (and his predecessor), The Meath County Council, it's county managers involved in the process, the National Roads Authority and all involved in the scandalous act of destroying the sites around Newgrange, should be held morally and criminally accountable.Flag

Ireland's culture and heritage are what makes our people respected all over the world so interfering with our most significant and globally renowned historical site is madness. Find an alternative.Flag

We rented a car and drove throughout Ireland. I had no problems traveling throughout the country. When we return I am sure we will miss the tranquil countryside.Flag

Name: Pamela McDermott on Jan 27, 2010Comments: These are the lands of our ancestors... sacred sites of both heritage and religious value. Ireland's sacred sites need to be protected from development, including roadways, for future generations. The loss of Ireland's sacred sites is a loss that cannot be corrected in the future, and Irish people the world-over should have some say in what happens to ancestral lands. Thank you for your consideration.Flag

Ireland was the land of my forefathers from 300 years ago, but that rich cultural heritage still remains. Dan W McCarn, EurGeol, AIPG CPG, Wyoming PGFlag
