wendy weimanI believe that this is a minor incident and the dog owner has taken every measure to prevent this from ocurring again. She constructed a fence and pay for training, she visits the dog every day at the shelter. She is obviously a responsible dog owner who loves her dog very much! The shelter is full of unwanted, uncared for pets, allow this responsible dog owner to have her dog back!
Laura HernbloomFree Rolo. DO NOT put him down!

AnonymousOur prayers for you and your dog. I've had dogs all my life from Doberman Pinchers, Wolf Hybrids, Lab/Pitbull mix to our Bulldog, Tank. Dogs ARE family and it's heartbreaking to watch them be treated poorly. Good luck!

Chris DugganStop the madness. Save this dog!!!
Jack SuconikWe have here another example of injustice , because the defendent "is only an animal."
AnonymousI find it wrong and horrendous that the city of Arvada has sentenced this dog to death. For one incident that was officially described as a "scratch." Its absurd and heartbreaking and you are currently causing this dog and its owner extreme physical and psychological distress. This sentence needs to be changed IMMEDIATELY. There is no good reason for this dog to be killed. I demand that you release him back to his owner. If anything, it is more appropriate to give the owner a fine or make her pay for the woman's doctor bills. How anyone could say that a scratch warrants death is beyond me. Please give this dog back to its owner!! And if you cant do that, then send the dog to a sanctuary, but do not kill it. Doing that is cruel and callous and completely overboard.

samuel newtonI read your story and it's sad how Arvada Co. will do this, all I can hope is that the process is sped up so that Rolo can just go back home. Good luck with everything I always hate to see this kind of injustice happen to animals.

dog ownerThis is ridiculous, rolo needs to be freed now!
Linda PostI think the dog, Rolo, should be freed. 1st time offense, & does not seem to be of great severity. I can only imagine how distraugt both his owner, & the dog has become after all this time. She obviously loves this dog, & doubt very much she would ever let this happen again. FREE THE DOG! 2nd chances are fair!

Steve PartridgeI believe this in inhumane treatment for a pet, & a total injustice to the owner. This is a first time occurance, the dog has no other history of aggression. It reportedly didn't even break the skin. The dog should be exonerated.

Robert HobartI agree that dogs are family too. I agree that this canine law needs to be changed. After hearing and reading about this incident I hope that serious considerations are being made in this situation that is making many people unhappy. Also LET ROLO GO!!!

rob dodsonThis is more punishment than a most people get for a violent crime. Let Rolo go home to his loving family! Rob Dodson
Connie ScottIt is outrageous the treatment this dog has been given. I believe the same treatment should be given to the "authorities" who are basically useless!
Alyssa Hollandplease let me know how i can help other than signing this petion.... I live in littleton close to the court house and stay at home with my son. Very willing to help in any way I can. Saw story on the news. 303-324-9804.
C. W.Saw this on the news tonight. I think it's ridiculous to keep a dog quarantined that long - regardless of the crime. Make a decision regarding the dog's status and act on it.

Anna McCollomLolo~ Mom told me about what happened with Rolo... I just watched you on the news too! Awesome job on getting the word out to those who haven't a clue about this injustice!! I'll come protest with you when I can!
steven zimmermani think this is so wrong and i want to help you get your dog as soon as posible. I hope everything works out and i send prayers for you and rolo.

JBI am also a pet owner, and this story really touched me. The "victim" is way too sue happy, and Rolo should not be treated like this. A dog can be put to death for a minor bite, but a drunk driver has to pay 8-10 in fines, and may kill people on the road.
AmyLet Rolo go home to his loving humans & canine friends!

jennifer fifeThis is absolute madness when a dog/family member can be murdered for 'biting' a person. I have had a neighbour's young child bite me--should I ask that their child be locked up and then euthanized?? To the city of Arvada---get serious---concentrate on REAL crimes that actually hurt us, not the persecution of an innocent dog. If this was happening to YOUR family animal--how would you feel??? Laura, hang in there and get as much publicity as you can! I will post this at my work (which only happens to be the largest corporation in the world) and make people aware of the website so they too can sign and write Ritter. May God bless both you and Rolo!!!!
Anonymousif this were my dog. i would hope others would take a moment to help. please your honor, give due process a kick in the behind, and fix this mis-carriage of justice. there are bad dogs out there, but rolo doesn't seem to be one of the bad guys. please give him another chance. thank you.

Sheryl JohnsonI work at a local no-kill shelter in Grant, NE. Although I am not a "certified"expert in canine behavioral sciences, my best opinion based on the photographs shown on this website are that this is a mild mannered, well adjusted, well socialized dog. I have seen, first hand, the affects of abuse, neglect and aggressive dogs. The photos do not suggest any of these occurences. Given that Rolo's 1st offence resulted in a "scratch", I have to agree that a 2nd chance is in order. This appears to be a well adjusted, well mannered and well socialized animal. At our local shelter, we estimate 1 of 10 puppies born ever finds a home...this dog HAS a home. His offence was minimal. If you are the owner of this dog and you are reading this feedback, PLEASE do not put this dog down. Dogs are amazing! No matter what you think you are seeing "happen" to your dog while incarcerated, dogs DO NOT have a memory or a brain like humans. They are resilient and can recover from horendous treatment. They can regain trust. and he can certainly regain body mass. While it is true that Rolo might never again enter a crate or boarding kennel, that, in itself is understandable BUT it is not enough to euthenize a lovely dog such as Rolo. Your dog is counting on YOU--he does NOT have a voice of his own. Your fight is not yet over. Do not give in and accept the "easy" answer because you are feeling tired, cold and hopeless. Also, if you are searching for a canine behavioralist, try www.cesarmilan.com if anyone is qualified to make the aggression assessment, Cesar Milan IS qualified--an a little celebrity can't hurt your cause. You never know if you don't ask. Keep your chin up and let us know if we can do anything to help your cause. Rolo is counting on you!
Jason FloresWow after all the testimony I read the only thing I gathered was what a typical GSD would do and that is protect his property. I also see in the testimony that everyone is so scared that he barks at the four foot fence do they not realize that any GSD in good health could clear that fence in a heart beat to attack anyone that he may want. I am sure there is more to all these bogus accusations and i sure hope that a GSD has to pay the price of they neighborhood game.

AnonymousThis is beyond belief; heartbreaking. There is a lesson here about going into court...esp. on something as important as the life of a 'family member' that can not speak for itself...without representation that KNOWS how the system works. Don't even pay a barking ticket (an admission of guilt) without seeking advice. I would welcome this dog next door to me. Dogs get excited and jump at fences...mine does as well...but she is NOT vicious. This dog and owner have paid enough...she has done everything right....to assure no further problem. Please set Rolo free...he has paid dearly for his mistake.
