Call on the Chief Minister to Save Mumbai's water bodies
To
The Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra
Respectful Sir,
Every day tonnes of waste from industries and households across Mumbai are dumped into our city's water bodies. The result has been that our streams, rivers, creeks and shoreline have become very polluted and dirty and are characterized by an unbearable stench.
Marine fauna and flora have been significantly affected, humans who use the water for their daily activities like drinking and bathing have become exposed to dangerous pollutants and acids leading to health problems and communities dependent on these water bodies for their livelihood have become the sufferers.
Though laws exist to prevent such illegal dumping the fact is that they are not being stringently enforced. The consequences today have already become severe and if the issue is not addressed by the government sir, they can turn devastating.
We the concerned citizens call upon you Sir to exercise your power to make our city beautiful, clean and green. We believe that only you can take action through the powers entrusted in your responsible hands to ensure that the blatant ongoing destruction of our water bodies is brought to an end
With you in the struggle to protect our environment and make our city great
Yours respectfully
Concerned Citizen
