    Comments: I have known a lot of the football players since I was in high school. I think that the team gave the guys a real sense of comraderie, as well as an excellent motivation to stay in shape. With all of the practices and scheduled lifting sessions, the men on the team learned to prioritize their lives and great time-management skills. Without this structure and sense of belonging I feel that a lot of these men will lack the desire to attend Michigan Tech. I am certain that some of them came to MTU specifically to play ball. If you cut the team you will not only lose some of our best students, you will also lose an excellent recruitment tool.

    Comments: I've grown up in Houghton and have watched Tech football ever since I was young. Now that I attend Michigan Tech I know some players, and I feel really bad for them. I think it was wrong to not give them a warning. Also, has anyone ever heard of a university without a football team

    Comments: Why cut something that brings diversity to a school that needs it. Also cutting the team cuts out the local economy as it cuts out homecoming and alumni returning. I didn't sign up to go to a community college and that is what it is turning out to be, I am glad I am leaving.

    Comments: I love the football team and all the players. The whole atmosphere in the fall is centered around the football team. Not only do we have some great athletes on the team, we also have some intelligent men that contribute a lot to Michigan Tech. By cutting the football team, we will not only be losing a wonderful tradition, we will also be losing a great group of men!!!

    Comments: The elimination of the MTU football team is wrong and it's unfair. It would not be right to put such an unexpected upset on the community and mostly the life of each player and coach. They were given the chance to experience such a great part of life and now it has been taken from them with no warning. It is completely rediculous and unfair.

No advanced notice, no input, no opportunity to brainstorm ideas, no attempt to search for alernatives. Very, very sad. I expected better from Michigan Tech. Then again, this was football and not hockey. Same way I felt when I attended and played.
