Comments: I fear this closing will start and eventual abandonment of the written law as we know it, and that would be a shame for future generations.

Comments: There are so many other ways to save money. This short-sighted move will have negative ramifications for years to come.

Comments: Even with our highly focused practice and computer-based research resources, we regularly use the Milford Law Library. Our clients and the community at large will suffer significant injustice if the Milford Law Library is no longer available for us. Leaving Milford as the only judicial district in the state without a public law library is in immediate reflection of the injustice inherent in this decision.

Comments: State Representative, 119th, Milford's east side. I personally have used law libraries as a news writer/editor, free-lance writer and legislator. Much good information is found there. Please do not close the Milford law library as it would hinder the free flow of informationi and make life difficult for a very large audience.

Comments: The Library continues to provide valuable services and access to volumes that smaller law firms can not get on line without paying exorbitant costs to expensive on-line databases. Additionally, sometimes the most effective research on an issue can only be accomplished by "hitting the books." Closing the Library would impose additional hardships and delays in rendering legal services to clients and in fulfilling our obligations to the judicial system.

Comments: As a judicial intern while in law school in Massachusetts, I spent many hours in the courthouse law library researching my assignments. Such libraries are important places not only for courthouse staff but also for pro se litigants who have nowhere else to turn for this type of information as the legal collections of local public libraries are very sparse, at best. I am currently a law firm librarian and still find myself turning to our local courthouse library to supplement the materials in our small firm library quite frequently.

Comments: While my main practice is in the Hartford area, we often wind up in Milford as well. On more than one occasion I have been able to use the Milford law library in connection with cases I had in Milford. Closing this library is penny wise and pound foolish.

Comments: I'm a former Family Court Referee here in Michigan, where we have many self-represented litigants; access to law and information is crucial not only to their ability to effectively represent themselves, but it also saves the court time and money to have those appearing before it afforded maximum opportunity to know what they are doing. The law is the people's, not the government, and the government should not be restricting the people's access to their laws, especially in family law cases, which impact practically everyone.
