TO THE GOVERNOR OF MARYLAND, BALTIMORE COUNTY EXECUTIVE AND THE BALTIMORE COUNTY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Baltimore County Board of Education is considering eliminating Mays Chapel Park and building a new school to house the current student population at Ridge Ruxton School upon the grounds now known as Mays Chapel Park.
We, the undersigned, petition the State of Maryland and Baltimore County to:
1. allow the Mays Chapel Park to remain as standing;
2. place/build the proposed school in another location in Baltimore County; or
3. keep the school at its current location on Charles Street.
This will allow the large senior citizen population residing in Mays Chapel to continue to use this park for exercise and needed socialization, as well as allow Baltimore County Parks and Recreation to continue their use of the athletic fields at this location by the youth of Baltimore County.
ive been digging into the county planning records lately and it is wild how little they accounted for the people who use this park every single day. im putting together a list of questions to send over to the council members because we deserve real answers about why they think this space is up for grabs.

i honestly still cant believe the momentum we have right now. seeing so many people rally for this park shows how much it really matters to our community. lets keep this energy going because we arent stopping until the park is safe.

Ridiculous decision. Leave our parks alone and find somewhere else to build.

my grandkids play soccer here every weekend. there is absolutely no reason to tear up this greenspace when there are so many empty lots nearby.
