| 1119 | Anonymous | It is a necessity for us as a community to ensure that we as a small comunnity continue to get the services that a local police department can deliver.
We at Lakeshore Village value their good service and do hope we do not plan on saving money and hurt the community. |
| 1120 | Peter Schroeder | We went thru a similar situation in our town about tens years ago. In the end it boiled down to a few key points:
1. Having your own police force that knows the town & the residents better that any shared or contracted deparment could. Our residents made that abundently clear to our governing body, including the fact that residents were willing to pay a little extra for this.
2. Residents were convinced that the quality of service could not be maintained by a neighboring town.
3. While there may be some cost savings initially, how can the town assure its residents that when it is time to renew the contract with a neighboring town, the costs will not surpass that of maintaing our own PD. Let alone the costs to re-establish a PD, if the shared services fail.
4. Once the services are contracted out, what controls does the governing body have to adrress problems, poor coverage, poor response times or inadequate service.
When this topic first arose in our town I was for the shared service and cost savings, but when you look at the bigger picture & the intangibles. I am glad I quickly changed my mind. I am very happy in our small town & our small PD, I will go as far to say as I am proud of Netcong PD. Part of living in a small town is our PD. it is a major factor in our quality of life!
Just one small eample of this: I was working late in my gargage and went to bed about 11 pm, not realizing I had left the garage door open. a couple hours later my phone rang, it was one of our Netcong patrol officer's He called me personally from his cell phone to let me know that my garge door was open. I want to point out some obvious points in this event. One that the officer new who lived in this particular house, that he took the time to call personally, and the fact that he noticed the door and took the time to adress it. While I mean no disrespect to larger area departments, but would this level of service be provided by a contract to a larger neighboring community?? I urge everyone in Mt. Arlington to look for the bigger picture. "A better quality of live versus a few extra tax dollars each year!" |
| 1121 | Lisa Shedden | From that report I can see that Mt Arlington would be spending more money if they combined with any other department. My friend just moved up there and from the times that I have been there I have seen the police in multiple locations. In fact, I think I've seen more MAPD in the few times I have gone there then my own police (I live in Whippany). |
| 1122 | Taran | Do NOT disband our Police Department! With the new train station in tact there will be more activity throughout our town.. Keep us safe!!!!! Keep MAPD!!!! |
| 1123 | Dan Taran | |
| 1124 | Dianne Sibilia | I think our police force is one of the best. When making a decision to disband the police force you must also take into consideration that there are many down sides to this that I am sure the report will not reflect, such as the liability that Mount Arlington will assume for the acts of the officers on the other police force, has the proper research been done to include whether or not there are suits, claims, actions filed against each and every officer on the other department. Perhaps the other police department's officers are not as profressional as ours and the potential liability to our residents could be substantially increased by the acts of these officers. I believe that for the report to be extensive enough to address all of the possible issues with merging forces with another municipality you must not only take into consideration the positive effects but also the potential for negative impact on our municipality. Be very careful when making decisions to get rid of a well oiled machine. |

| 1130 | Anonymous | I hope to see the pd stay in town i rather pay extra money than loose our boy in blue they know everyone in town and how things work they know the good from bad people in town ONDISH YOU ARE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE ! and if this goes through i will persoanly see that YOU AND THE TOWN COUNCIL WILL BE DISBANDED ! LEAVE THIS UP TO THE TOWN PEOPLE TO VOTE ON ! DO THE RIGHT THING |
| 1131 | Richard Scalzo | This is ill advised and will not be in the best interest of the resident of Mt. Arlington. |

| 1135 | Anonymous | This issue is extremely upsetting to us. The reason we purchased our home was because it is located a few homes away from the police station.
Through out the years my family have come to rely on the Mt. Arlington police department for a variety of issues and could always count on their support.
Moving is something my family is considering should we suffer the loss of our beloved police department. |
| 1136 | JOHN G GOLDIN | You have wasted $42,000 of our town's money for a useless study. The money would have been beter spent protectiing Mt Arlington. There is no substitue for time or safety that is needed to protect our community of Mt Arlington. |
| 1137 | Dalyce Boyer | The Blue Shield Report seems inadequate, with unsubstantiated information, to support the outsourcing of our police department. By contrast, the Cusack/Martinez Report is clear, definitive and well-supported. It clearly indicates that the best course of action is to retain our Police Department. I hope the mayor and council study it carefully before making a decision. If they decide to go ahead with the outsourcing, the residents of Mount Arlington should have the opportunity to vote on this issue. |

| 1141 | Michele Kosch | I lived in Mt. Arlington for 28 years and my parents are still residents. I cannot believe that you want to get rid of such a great police department. It will be a huge mistake. |

| 1144 | Evan May | Save the !!!M.T.A!!! Police. They are the best police EVER. |
| 1145 | Bruce James Yeager | I live in a small town just like yours. I reside in Alabama. I am Chief Officer of a department in a city 37 miles away from my home and a reservist officer in the town that I live. Your town needs the defense of hometown cops to maintain the loyalty of your public. Without the support of your community, you have truely nothing to anchor upon. Your boys in blue have the ability to do their jobs, all they need is your support and assistance to grow with their community. If you fail your department, your community will have the same response, Our commission feels that we are not worthy of our own independance. That's the word you will hear from your people. A few dedicated police officers are much better than several officers that didn't want to be obligated to your town in the first place. Take pride in your own and help your community grow and they will help you grow. |
| 1146 | Maryalice (Bizzarro) Farkas | It would most definitely be a disservice to the community to disband the police department. I grew up in this town and my parents still live there. If it was agreed upon by my spouse and I , we would have moved back to Mt. Arlington. |
