Mayor Ondish and Council:
The Mt. Arlington Council and Mayor have authorized a $42,000 study which will investigate the possibility of sharing police services with another town.
We the undersigned believe that disbanding the Mt. Arlington Police Department would be a disservice to the community regardless of any negligible cost savings. Furthermore, the Daily Record recently reported that Mt. Arlington was the third fastest growing community in the state of NJ from 2005 to 2006; this is further evidence that the police force is needed now more than ever. Therefore, we strongly urge the Mayor and Council to consider the wants and needs of the community and keep the Mt. Arlington Police force intact.
Please accept our signatures as a verification that we wish the MAPD to remain intact under all circumstances. In addition we request that if necessary, this important issue be voted upon by the residents of Mt. Arlington.
