The world famous Manchester Palace Theatre, one of the most succesful touring venues in the UK for major musicals is under threat after plans have emerged to turn the theatre in to an Opera venue. This great theatre has provided the people of Manchester over 100 years of varied musicals/plays/concerts/comedy etc including many world and UK premieres and continues to thrive. The venue contains one of the biggest stages outside of London meaning the mega musicals can play there. If an Opera house is needed in Manchester then let the council take the 110 million they plan on putting in to the Palace once it changes to an opera venue and build a new one. Generations of people have enjoyed and continue to enjoy great theatre at the Palace, it should not become a venue for a select group of people to enjoy. It will also see the loss of many jobs at the Palace, a large amount of people who give their all to making it the best theatre in the UK. Its time to make Manchester City Council and the Royal Opera hear what you think.
