Name: Connie Herring on May 6, 2009Comments: Thank you for your continued support of the film industry in our State. This work has been a God-send to many of us to provide a living for ourselves and our families. Also, healthcare and some kind of retirement. I am sure that you will agree, having a job enhances not only your economic well-being, but your emotional well-being as well. There are a lot of challenges facing our State legislatures over the next few weeks..... my thoughts and prayers are with you.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Enochs on May 6, 2009Comments: The film industry is a clean industry that attracts educated and skilled labor to our state and every economic impact study supports that the incentives generate new jobs, new spending, in excess of the "cost" to the state of the foregone tax revenues. Without competitive incentives, the business will go to other states (Georgia, MIchigan) and many of us who moved here to build the industry will follow. Both the LA economy and arts culture will feel the negative impact immediately. The state needs to be long term in its thinking and encourage job production in areas that have greater long term potential for economic development here. Entertainment, film, digital media and music are the future and LA can lead or forfeit to more forward thinking states.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Enochs on May 6, 2009Comments: Every ecnomic study has shown the positive economic impact of the film production incentives and the fact that this program more than pays for itself. The film industry is a clean industry that attracts educated, skilled labor to high paying jobs. Louisiana needs to focus economic development on industries with a bright future, such as entertainment, film, digital media and music. If we do not ensure competitive incentives, this business will continue to go to other states (GA, Michigan) and will result in a net loss of jobs, exodus of talented and productive workers/residents (who were recruiting others from out of state to live and work here) and will also negatively impact our culture and tourism.Flag

Name: John E. Selmer on May 6, 2009Comments: We need to support these bills to keep the film industry going strong in Louisiana, especially in NW Louisiana. We have a studio trying to make a permanent home in Shreveport - but they need to know that the state is supportive of their endeavor!Flag
