This petition is initiated by Hasiru Usiru, a network of organisations and individuals focussed on conserving public commons, open spaces and greenery in Bangalore. Following several protests over the past two weeks, the Karnataka Transport Minister Ashok announced on the eve of General Elections that the Government would order a stop to the work on the Metro through Bangalore's landmark heritage Lalbagh and Lakshman Rao parks. Even so, work continues. This appeal is to ensure the Chief Minister keeps its Government's commitment and orders a fundamental redesign of the Metro work on its southern reach.
