Lakewood Dog Park of Lakewood, Ohio, is a municipal off-leash facility featuring a spacious 2/3-acre fenced lot bordering the Rocky River Reservation of the Cleveland MetroParks. It has a fine gravel surface with five majestic trees providing shade in the summer. For dog safety, there are two double-gated entrances located at either end of the park.
A drinking fountain provides water for both dogs and humans (though the water is turned off during the winter months, from mid-October until May). There are five dog waste bag stations positioned around the park along with rakes and pans for owners to clean up after their dogs. There are also four dispensers of hand sanitizers around the park. Nineteen benches provide ample seating.
Visitors will find two kiosks located near the entrance gates with information regarding the dog park and local events.
In cooperation with the City of Lakewood, the dog park is maintained by the Friends of Lakewood Dog Park, a group of dedicated volunteers under the leadership of a volunteer board of directors. Throughout the year, FLDP also hosts events for dogs and speakers of interest to their owners.
