If the college radio station at my alma mater were secretly sold, I would be even more livid.Flag

Having lived in many places where such radio stations do not exist for hundreds of miles around I hope that the powers that be understand their impact and take care to preserve the KUSF institution.Flag

Name: Maggie Dee on Feb 27, 2011Comments: "Disability and Senior News Report" stays current with local, state, national and international news for persons with disabilities and seniors. Types of guests: surgeons with new surgical proceedures, state and federal legislators regarding legislation, federal and state budgets, directors of local, state and federal programs and Organizations, and especially voices of consumers. We believe that there are options to long term care not under a "medical model" rather a person-centered "social model". Independence is choice is our theme. Choices for us to determine our life's path and resources for people who are new to their disability or old hands at coping in an inaccessible world. We help to change opinions to inclusiveness for we believe that every person is of value. We are a Bay Area an around the world resource for two essential communities, people with disabilities and the oncoming "Baby Boomers". We carefully research our sources and interview with the pride for the past 30 years that our show (a team of 5 people) gives people hope for their future, and a sense of pride to be who they are and their value. SAVE KUSF! Maggie DeeFlag

Name: Greg Brown on Mar 3, 2011Comments: Losing KUSF has left a gaping hole in the rich cultural fabric of San Francisco. San Francisco's FM radio dial is already confined to a very homogenized set of programing options, and the loss of an independent, culturally diverse, and sonically experimental station such as KUSF has left San Francisco with even fewer independent radio options. One can only hope the voice of the community is heard, and the station is returned to the public airwaves. Disappointed and Concerned, Greg Brown San Francisco ResidentFlag

You name it. Helping bands have gig in a city that doesn't always come easy. KUSF is the personally station for SF. Come let's bring it back on the AIR........Flag

Our station currently broadcasts online because we were pushed (not even sold) off the dial in 2001 when the Susquehanna Radio Corporation came to town and bought the frequency next to us. College Radio must survive on the dial.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 7, 2011Comments: I listened to KUSF for many years when I lived in San Francisco, and visited the USF campus to attend record swaps, and other events. My appreciation for USF is all due to the immense presence of KUSF on the radio. It's operation and life on the local airwaves is part of San Francisco's cultural heritage, it is priceless, and to sell it not only damages USF's integrity, it wounds the entire community surrounding it.Flag

Name: Daniel Chaffey on Apr 13, 2011Comments: In an era where more and more radio time and bandwidth is taken up by huge media conglomerates determined to push their own musical and more often than not political agendas, smaller independently run radio stations such as KUSF are more important than ever. Outlets such as KUSF provide the general public (more often than not individuals who are not internet or tech savvy enough to seek out new music/viewpoints via podcasts and the internet) with a sort of beacon of new sounds and voices. "College" radio is really one of the most important ways that the surrounding community are even afforded the opportunity to get a glimpse into the campus and university life. For every "College" radio station that is shut down, sold off or transferred to some media giant, each community loses an alternative source of music and information. Please keep KUSF as a beacon for the university and the community.Flag

Name: Mark Rilinger on Jun 2, 2011Comments: KUSF provided an invaluable resource for the dissemination of information related to social issues, community concerns, and activities in San Francisco. The removal of KUSF from the airwaves represents an impoverishment of the community and a degradation of San Francisco's social health. Please weigh the benefit generated by a vibrant, participatory, communal forum when determining whether or not the transfer of KUSF's license should be approved.Flag
