Name: Misha Antonich on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I LOVE KUSF's programmming and it's jaunty space in lower center of the "dial" range at 90.3. It's DJ's and personalities and style made the station one (if not THE) highest form of social capital in radio in SF. Bring it back. Bring that beat back....Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I used to listen to KUSF when in range of their signal when i lived in Oakland – I live east of the Caldecott these days... This station and KALX are (were?) the ONLY on-air music stations in the SF Bay Area not influenced by corporate interests. That's sad. Tell the FCC that we need to keep KUSF 90.3 FM on the air and independent!Flag

Name: Andrew Jervis on Jan 20, 2011Comments: As a graduate from USFs media program and a DJ at USF I took my knowledge and earned a job at a record label as the radio promotions person. 17 years later I run that company and up until Tuesday still hosted a KUSF show. I know I'm not the only one who benefited from USF and KUSF - it's sad that USF doesn't acknowledge this or understand they had a good thing going, and obviously that they greatly under appreciated the value of KUSF on the greater community. There will be no alum donations from me - I've been terminated by the USF legal offices without prior notice, without the ability to discuss and offer VIABLE solutions (think WFMU or KEXP -examples where radio survives, student investment is strong, and community is well served.) This was poorly handled on so many levels. Shame on you USF.Flag

Name: Chris Morin on Jan 20, 2011Comments: Been listening for 17 years. I've relied on KUSF for community event listings as well as exposure to new, evolving, and ethnic forms of music. KUSF has classical programming which I enjoyed on weekends. I object to the sale of the FCC license and to the hypocritical manner in which it was conducted.Flag

Name: Dawn Mauberret on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I spent 7 years volunteering at KUSF, first as a student, then as an alum. My time there as a DJ and Director of Promotions taught me everything I know about event planning, PR, and community organizing. The contacts I met there led me to various internships and my first paid job at record label. As a listener, KUSF continued to be a importance resource not just for music, but awareness about community events and topics.Flag

Name: C. Stauduhar on Jan 20, 2011Comments: This is not a music format swap. KUSF was a low power station using a part of the public's spectrum which has been reserved for broadcasting that serves the community. KUSF's broadcast included the classical music that will now be on this frequency and therefor served the classical community as well. The FCC needs to view this as a 'community radio' vs 'no community radio' issue, rather than a classical music vs other music issue. This is not like making an argument for one commercial music format vs another! This is about a public service frequency being privatized to serve a narrow segment of the population. The USF administration mistakenly views KUSF as their property, when in fact, they simply had the privilege and honor of being caretakers of a vital community resource. It is as if they were in charge of a beautiful reflecting pool and then decided to replace it with a picture of Mozart.Flag

Name: Raul Delarosa on Jan 20, 2011Comments: To the President of USF: you have committed a crime against the students. KUSF radio is a nearly 50 year old established cultural institution the media paid tuitions for access to in their studies. Radio IS a powerful medium, a robust one. KUSF has a long and strong following. Shame on you! I believe "traitor" is not a strong word. How can you validate the guise of a media department? That was a rhetorical question- your answers are lies at the very root.Flag
