Name: John H on Jan 20, 2011Comments: Way to kill off a San Francisco institution USF. Nearly every day of the last 21 years i've lived in SF my dial has stopped, if only briefly, at 90.3. To say that I am heartbroken is an understatement. So disappointing.Flag

Name: Jon Worona on Jan 20, 2011Comments: KUSF is a community resource that should be preserved so that it can evolve and continue to provide much needed new music, community, cultural, and specialty programming in San Francisco. If it cannot remain a part of the University of San Francisco, the cause should be taken up by the City and County Government.Flag

Name: Michael Barnes on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I used to live in the Bay Area for almost 10 years and work at KALX Berkeley. KUSF was like our sister station, picking up in SF where our signal left off. I truly hope that the FCC will not approve this sale and they do what is right and give the station back to the students and community.Flag

Name: Cheryl E. Leonard on Jan 20, 2011Comments: Please keep KUSF on the FM dial! I have lived just down the street from the station for 19 years and I value KUSF's extremely diverse radio programming highly. KUSF is one of my favorite stations to listen to both at home and while driving around in San Francisco. Changing the station to online only would make it much harder for me to listen to. The station is an important part of numerous diverse local communities, including music (indie to classical to traditional music from all over the world) as well as many different ethnic communities. Changing the format of the station is a blow to all of these communities and San Francisco's culture as a whole. Please reconsider!Flag

Name: Allison McSurely on Jan 20, 2011Comments: The decision to sell USF's rare community goldmine and internationally acclaimed and award-winning college broadcast station without consulting students, faculty, staff, volunteers or the community should call into question the sanity, intelligence, conscience, ethics, morality, and leadership of USF. It's hard to imagine USF ever recovering from such a bone-headed act of bad faith against the best goodwill and good works ambassador it had going.Flag

Name: Carmen Ford-Treacy on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I moved from San Francisco to Portland 10 years ago. KUSF was the ONLY station I listened to while living in the City. It's a sad day in San Francisco when a college sells out like this.Flag

Name: Spencer W. Weisbroth on Jan 20, 2011Comments: What will i eat on Sunday night when there is no musical sandwich available? I appreciate classical as much as the next guy (maybe more), but not at the expense of one of the few truly local stations that served and showcased the diversity of this city. I cannot tell you how many shows i will miss. Radio is dead. Long live radio.Flag

Name: David Hargis on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I volunteered at KUSF as a DJ and department head from 2001-2010, leaving only for a new job in other state late last year. Like many of my colleagues, I raised thousands of dollars for the station and spent thousands of hours volunteering during that time. For the station to be shuttered without a word to the staff, students, faculty, or listeners is deeply insulting. Moreover, the University has long prevented the station from fundraising, making it impossible to cover our own costs. USF's suggestions otherwise are disingenuous at best. These are shameful actions by the University and president Steven Privett.Flag

Name: Jennifer Patrick on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I have listened to KUSF for the better part of the last 20 years. KUSF is the reason why San Francisco has always had an innovative music community, and why San Francisco is one of the most music-literate cities in the world. Because of the diverse programming, connections are made between diverse communities, and these fusions make a rich and vibrant world that mirrors the diversity of San Francisco. I am not an alum of USF but many many friends I knew while I was in college at UCSC were students at USF and KUSF made KUSF a destination for those of us passionate about music. San Francisco has lost its independent music (and not just for the kids, i am in my late 30s, married, career, parent) voice and IT IS A TRAGEDY.Flag

Name: Kimberly Morgan on Jan 20, 2011Comments: KUSF has been my companion for nearly 20 years. It has seen me through many a break up, and lonely times as well as so many happy times such asrepeatedly causing me to pull over and call the station because I was excited by a new song (this happened so so many times!) KUSF DJ's wished my then 4 year old son Happy Birthday on air and played a song he loved, I will never forget the look on his face, I could go on and on. Please bring it back.Flag

Name: Gopal Rao on Jan 20, 2011Comments: This is one of 2 broadcast radio stations that I listen to with any regularity, the other being KQED (88.5 FM). I live in SF, and often cannot receive signals that originate outside the city, particularly from low power community stations. KALX Berkeley and KFJC Los Altos Hills are also favorites of mine, but I cannot listen to their over the air broadcasts in the city because the signal just doesn't penetrate.Flag

Name: Nicholas Parker on Jan 20, 2011Comments: There is no other station like it for diversity of programming. Not just the alternative music, which I like, but the French, Turkish, Persian, Chinese shows as well. And, yes, their classical broadcasting--Classical Salon and the opera--are some of the best in SF. That all this would be secretly sold away for a classical station that, at best, plays music to sleep by, is not just insulting but infuriating.Flag

Please don't let this atrocity of cultural takeover happen, and a valuable, beloved community institution be taken over by corporate interests. We were away from SF for 12 years and returned in '06, and one of the things we were so happy to hear once more was KUSF, in the car, at home, not to mention benefitting from free tickets to some amazing shows etc.Flag

Name: Lenny DiFranza on Jan 20, 2011Comments: I disagree with the decision to sell the KUSF FCC license. The station has had a great value to the listening and participating community. KUSF has also been central to many USF students' education. I call on the FCC to reject the license transfer. In addition, the process was handled in an inexcusable manner. The existing station staff should have been informed and given an opportunity to keep the station on the air.Flag

Name: Linda Champagne on Jan 20, 2011Comments: KUSF is vital to San Francisco...as well as USF. If Father Privette and the rest of the University's administation involved with this awful decision think that getting rid of it is good business for the university, they are very wrong. This is going to have a bigger negative impact on the future of this campus than they realize.Flag

Name: Lynn Belcher on Jan 20, 2011Comments: This station has been a hub of diversity through music and culture and has supported local talent since its inception...not to mention a major force in getting me through the day with a smile thanks to the dj personalities. The selling of the station was via deceptive terns. The sellers should be ashamed. Its a sad sad day in San Francisco and it is disheartening that this is a reflection of the corruption ever increasing in our society.Flag
