Because together, we can Save Kumi.

This petition is to save Kumi the Sheep. It is also to reassure myself that on the second of December EVERYONE MUST YELL OUT SAVE KUMI at 3PM. Please help to save Kumi! I read this story online (at Watch it Earth Girl) I was so touched! We must save Kumi the Sheep! It is for a good cause too. It's about the growing poverty issue in Central India. Heres the story!!!!! Make sure you share it!!

Some people constantly wonder if they will live to see the next sunrise. If your reading this, you probably don’t wonder this at all. You are one of the lucky few. Show your support for those who aren’t. Just South of the Central Indian city of Nagpur, lies a small, poor and remote Indian village. The population is barely two hundred people. Due to its isolation from major cities, in conjunction with neighboring towns, the village produces all of its own food. They all bath, drink and wash from the same water. A single doctor visits the town once in an entire year and the future leaders of the village have had no official education. Kumi the sheep is a beloved resident of the town. She supports a family of 11 people (2 parents and 9 fairly small children). With her milk and wool the, families living costs are paid. Without her, the family would suffer and most probably die. Kumi’s best friend is the family’s youngest member, Pakhi aged only seven. She looks after Kumi with respect, love and compassion. Each day Pakhi would take Kumi running through the fields. They would get to a particular spot and Pakhi would sing a beautiful melody. They would get back to their small dwelling and Kumi would be milked and sometimes get a “haircut”, as Pakhi used to say. One day, sometime last year, Kumi the Sheep was taken by a group of thieves who raided the poor Indian village. The thieves made her walk many miles through harsh desert conditions to Nagpur. In Nagpur the thieves sold Kumi at a local market where she was kept locked up in a cage, whipped and forced to carry heavy loads on her back all day. Kumi’s family was distraught. Pakhi did not eat for a week and as a consequence she became very sick. No medicine was available that could help her and the doctor wasn’t scheduled to come to the village for another eight months. Over the course of this year Pakhi has become so sick that she can hardly walk. Medical treatment is still three months away. The village can not afford to seek assistance earlier and thus many people of the village don’t believe she will not survive. The little girl that was once so full of life is now slowly dying. Her last wish is to see her beloved Kumi. The heartbreaking story of these best friends is only one of many out there. There is still hope for the two, but their future relies on you. Share this, to show your support for Kumi, Pakhi and the many others who are suffering in similar situations. And maybe, just maybe, we can save this little girl and her best friend, Kumi the Sheep. #savekumi
