The petition is to support the preservation of The Kitsilano Day Care Society which has been an integral part of providing quality child care services to families in the Vancouver community for nearly 40 years. The Kitsilano Day Care Society is desperately searching for adequate space to continue their great child care work. After 38 years the day care is being forced to relocate its operation due to proposed redevelopment of the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House site.
(*) 25 group day care spaces will be lost to families in the community. The critical under capacity of group day care spaces in the West side community, particularly in the Kitsilano neighbourhood, is unacceptable to families who rely on access to essential child care centres.
(*) The Kitsilano Neighbourhood House needs to provide the community with a written commitment to reinstate a full-day group day care at current capacity on the newly developed site.
(*)All levels of government and Kitsilano Neighbourhood House must support Kitsilano Day Care's continued operation at West 7th & Vine until suitable child care space at current capacity is acquired for relocation.

so many families depend on this society. please dont let these spaces disappear, we have nobody else to turn to.
the neighbourhood house really needs to step up and ensure this stays. kids need stability.
just keep it open at 7th and vine until a new spot is ready. seems pretty simple.
THIRTY EIGHT YEARS. how can you just kick them out like that?? ridiculous.
my kids went there years ago. it was such a great space for them. do not close this place down.

Kitsilano needs this. finding childcare in this city is already a nightmare. stop making it harder for parents.
