tom keener | We live in Florida during the winter and the stations there are great. When we get back to Clinton, Mo. our radio time goes to Springfield, Mo. because their stations play much better music. For the size of K.C. the music could be better.
Bill and Linda Eddy | We are board members of the Jazz Friends at the UMKC Conservatory of Music. The Jazz Studies Program and Bobby Watson's Concert Jazz Band are gaining nation-wide recognition for Kansas City and UMKC. We need to keep building jazz in KC!
Sallye Benecke | There are many options for talk radio and new programs but there is only one station that offers jazz and blues. That's what made KKFI unique. If money is the ticket then I will vow NEVER to donate to the station again (I have supported them for well over 10 years now) until they bring back the old format.

carol pollock | Thanks to Steve Penn's column, I now know about the revised jazz schedule on KKFI. I wasn't even aware of it before. I could actually have the radio turned on at work now that I know, but I want the max possible hours of jazz! Thanks so much.
John Hess |
Chris Carroll | We need MORE jazz on the radio in Kansas City, Not less! Please restore jazz programming on KKFI.
michael r logan | I can't imagine replacing jazz with another talk show
Anonymous | I still miss 106.7 jazz radio, so this is the only station that still has this great music. Please don't shorten the program, but increase it!!
Anonymous | More---not less jazz on the radio!!

Anonymous | There are not too many stations that broadcast jazz. I think that your station should go all out and be one of the top jazz stations
| 114 | Brad Lucht | KKFI is no longer serving the community, they are only serving the wealthy.
Bring back the jazz and blues. |
Joseph Groszek | PLEASE RETURN TO THE PREVIOUS 3HOUR PROGRAMMING I MISS IT THANK YOU JAZZ LOVER
Fritz Young | Bring back the jazz
| 117 | Anonymous | I really enjoyed having a full-time jazz radio station in KC and I was disappointed that 106.5 sold out to a country station. Don't we have enough of those? I agree with the readers regarding keeping jazz on KKFI from 12p-3pm, but I'll go one step further and say I would really like to have it back full-time.
It is very relaxing music and shows the artists that we care about their contributions to the music scene. |
Terrance Welsh | Stop all the political shows. Everybody knows KKFI already slants way to the left anyway.
Phil Bowler | I support restoring the hour back to Jazz Programming at KKFI radio. Shows such as "Democracy Now," & "Between The Lines" are vital to the community this radio station serves. However, I don't see how they cannot co-exist and thus serve the community that goes underserved by other "Public" and Commercial radio without the need to trim the time slot for Jazz progamming.
Phil | Thanks DJ. Hope you're listening KKFI.
Jon Heim |
Janice Reaster | please return jazz to to your former programming allotment.
Joe Hoffman | Please play more jazz on KKFI. Thanks!
Mary Farnin | KC needs more jazz music on the radio

Anonymous | Kansas City needs to honor her roots!

John E. Flower | KKFI has been my go to station for a long time. The new format was the cause for me NOT DONATING this year. Please hear our need.
Mark Degginger | Since the change I have sorely missed the hour of jazz programming. Please restore the music.
Carole Degginger |
Marilyn York | It's so important for Kansas City to maintain and promote jazz. I have donated to KKFI specifically because of their jazz programming. Please go back to your former programming. Thanks.

Anonymous | I've been listening to jazz since my dad introduced me to it in 1963. It's very disheartening to have a Kansas City community radio station reduce its jazz programming.
mark huffhines | Good luck, Ms Sweeney.

bill Moss | Kansas City is famous for it's jazz history. There is not enough jazz music as it is without losing what we've had.
Doug Auwarter | KKFI was applauded for having the only consistently accessible jazz programming in Kansas City after KCUR abandoned its jazz content. Why, then, would KKFI want to follow in KCUR's footsteps and offer redundant programming instead of something that demonstrates its pride in the culture of our city?
RIck McCullough | It's a shame it has to come to this. KKFI is great in so many ways, but it'd be nice to hear a jazz show at night, too.
Peter Mendelsohn | America's only indigenous art form and a Kansas City icon? ... Should there even be a question? KKFI- Are you really ready to relinquish your leadership position?
Tim Theis | Jazz is so important to Kansas City. Please consider bringing back the old jazz schedule! Thanks-
bill tholen |
Liz Handlen | I loved the jazz time from 12-3 and am so heartbroken that it has been cut into only 2 hours. Not your finest hour kkfi!
Suzanne Cruise |
Bruce Anderson | D.J. Sweeney speaks for me on this one!

Scott Myers | This is the only real jazz on the radio. There are a lot of jazz lovers listening I just hope they speak up.
Charles Myers |
james a. reaves | Please restore jazz programming during the noon to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday time slots.
