Comments: The staff and students at Jamaica deserve more. They need support and more resouces; not fewer. Closing this school is not the answer and will only succeed in marginalizing the students of color who attend this school.

Comments: Don't close this landmark school. If you are truly serious about providing all our children with the excellent education they deserve and are entitled to receive, you would be providing the resources and support needed to ensure that this occurs. Closing schools and shuffling students around does not accomplish this goal. Listen to the parents, students, community and teachers who have stated over and over again that Jamaica HS must not be closed.

Comments: We protest the return to the racist days of separate, but (un)equal. What a shame we have to fight this battle all over again. Blatant injustice is never "innovative" and eventually collapses because it is both ineffective and unethical. It's just a matter of time now before it is all exposed for what it is and then will be dismantled, just as in the days of the real civil rights movement.

Comments: Jamaica H.S. represents the demagraphic makeup of the city with its diverse population. It has a long-standing and dedicated staff where they are constantly putting the children first. I hope that Ms. Black will re-evaluate the present status of the school and support it instead of phasing it out. Jamaica H.S. is needed in the community.

Comments: Jamaica High School has a long history of courageous, conscientious teachers, these teachers have always care for the education of their students. Jamaica High School has been successful in many fronts in education, which can not be judged just by tests and other parameters that do not include the students social and intellectual growth while being students at Jamaica High School. Jamaica HS is not begging for pity, is just asking to be treated justly and fairly.

Comments: Jamaica High School students and parents spoke with great pride about the education they were receiving and the dedication of their teachers during the school closing battle last year. They have continued to dedicate themselves to their studies and school, while the city has continued to minimize the opportunities they are given. The students should be given every tool and every opportunity to succeed. At present, it is the students in the *other* schools in the building being given those benefits, while Jamaica students are forced to struggle to achieve success with dedicated teachers but fewer other benefits and tools than their peers.
