Name: Ken Flint on Jul 16, 2009Comments: I have had the great honor and privalage to have performed there in many musical groups to a packed audience, and the cultural and historical value of this stucture cannot be measured. Perhaps the historical society or the town itself can pick it up and do for this theater was has been done for the theater in Bay Shore that the town picked up that used to be a porn theater, and now is a non-profit that has many famous performers play there...........Flag

How can the town destroy such a land mark and change our lovely Main street. Those of us who have chosen to stay in Islip despite taxes and all need to be able to have our wonderful main street preserved. All of us and those of you on the town board who live in Islip must know how this change would effect our lovely little town. Look at Sayville, its so nice to walk, visit and shop. Lets make Islip more like this.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 17, 2009Comments: I am AGAINST destroying the former movie theater to erect a day care center in that location. That use of the site is dangerous for the Smith Avenue and Main Street intersection and the hamlet of Islip. A better plan would be to use the existing building for a variety of Islip community uses!
