Tony9194201It helps the music industry as a whole by exposing the consumers to a wide variety of music that would never be heard in the world of narrowcasting.Once again, our government has found a way to get involved and stick it to the little guy in favor of the big lobbyiists who line their pockets. You don't need to be an economist or mathmetician to see that the only survivors of this heinous act will be those with deep pockets like AOL, Yahoo etc... I implore you to look at the small webcasters audience reach and income statistics, then do some simple calculations and then issue a statement that you as our representative believe that this is fair and just.
Nick Souza5224001Freakin helps! I've foudn some great music there is NO way I'd ever hear of here in lil ole IowaDon't go through with this crap... what's next no free radio unless we pay the record companies!
Anonymous4450601HelpsAs a fan of Internet radio, I was alarmed to learn that music royalty rates were recently determined by the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) which, if enacted, would certainly silence most or all of my favorite online listening services. (For most webcasters, this new royalty rate represents more than 100% of their total revenues!) The closure of these Internet radio stations would be a loss for not only independent business owners, but also for musical artists, for copyright owners, and for listeners like me who enjoy the wide variety of choices available via Internet radio. I respectfully request that Congress look into this matter and initiate action to prevent it. As the CRB rate decision is retroactive to January 1, 2006, please understand that time is of the essence -- as the immediate impact of this decision could silence many or most free Internet radio stations forever.www.durdee.com www.wordofsouth.com www.gritsandeggs.com

angie good9535001it helps the music industry by exposing the consumer to music you just can't hear on terrestrial radio.
Ted Fleischaker4620401Helps...This is just another form of recording industry gangsterism. We need RIAA and everyone with their hands out demanding their share of fees, royalties and copyright money to understand the cat is out of the bag and digital transmission and music will not be able to be held at bay with legal threats and court challenges for long. The recording industry need a new business model and a lot less greed now or they will (and already are) find themselves as irrelevant as buggy whip companies were after cars came in!WKTZ-FM Jacksonville, Florida, Classic FM (UK) and BBC Radio 4 (UK)
Ian Hebert01With the increasing convergence of conventional radio outlets, playlists have become more mainstream--aimed at the lowest common denominator. Consumer choice is being lessened, not increased. With the demise of internet radio, many artists will lose the additional avenues for exposures afforded by this medium.I think it is hypocritical at best to require the payment of onerous royalties by the Internet-based radio stations, while at the same time, not requiring any payments from commercial broadcasters. While it may not have been the original intent, nevertheless the net effect is to kill-off the competition to commercial broadcasting ventures as posed by Internet radio. After U.S.-based internet radio stations have been eliminated by this measure, artists will be no further ahead--they will neither receive increased royalties nor will their works be exposed to new listeners. It is, in short, a lose-lose proposition.
WONG chi-yung7501101yes! cause the selection of the radio let us come across more different kinds of music under such a pop music dominated society.Free Internet Radio!Accuradio.com
Anthony Creech4047501The existance of Internet Radio provides a venue for Independant artists to get exposure. This allows a greater influx of quality material on to the music scene to keep the industry alive and prospering.Highlander Radio: www.celticradio.net The Riverbank: http://www.riverotter.net/riverbank.html
Lynelle C Duncan9456801Internet Radio (especially Pandora) has helped the music industry and all musicians.Pandora
Matthew B. Johnson0651101Internet radio is very very good for smaller bands and labels. It's been years since I bought a new cd from a big label. However, in the past year since signing up with Pandora and other similar services, I have mail ordered many cds from, for example, Dischord (heard new bands on Pandora), Theory 8 records (Nashville; heard their bands on WOXY.com), and Light in the Attic (Seattle; heard on KEXP).Pandora, KEXP
Sara Marti80210Diane Degette - please do what you can to stop this from happening. It would be a horrible loss!
Anonymous6311201definitely helps, I cannot begin to name all of the songs and artists that I have become aware of that I would otherwise not have known about. After I hear a song I like I go to iTUNEs and download it for my iPOD.please do not ban internet radio, as a college student it is nice to be able to sit in the librarty at school and listen to music on my laptop.Accuradio-- especially the Motel California and the seasonal stations

Anonymous455702I definitely belive that it helps the music industry. When I listen to accuradio, music that I loved when I was younger, I find it easier to see what the song title is and the Artist. Once I know what Artists and song titles I like then I know what Albums I want to purchase.I absolutely love accuradio and have been listening to it for 5 years at work. I can't imagine what it would be like if accuradio was cut from airing music, I think I would be totally stressed at work. The music on accuradio helps me to work more effectively without feeling the pressure of my work environment. Why, accuradio of course!!
Jared M Compton4810101It helps by giving recording artists an opportunity to showcase their products to people all over the world. Please look into this matter and initiate action to prevent it. AccuRadio is a delightful avenue to the arts.
Anonymous9225201Helps! i wouldnt know a lot of the artists if it wernt for internet radio.Keep free Internet Radio going! Its the only thing we listen to at work. and when im home its the best for finding new artist. you can get that on the radio.Accuradio.
John Lyman9846601It helps and diversifies the industry.America is about having freedom to choose. The RIAA and SoundExchange don't care about my or anyone else's freedom. All they care about is the special interest group(s) handing them cash under the table. Can anyone say XM Satellite Radio?www.jetcityradio.com

Anonymous0440103I feel, if anything, that internet radio would help the music industry, because people will hear a song they like and have to go buy the whole cd...accuradio.com and yahoo.com
Matthew Izu9213101Internet radio is a vital venue for listeners like myself to enjoy the multitude of music genres we would not otherwise be likely to access. Additionally, Internet radio is an equally vital opportunity for artists to be heard by persons who otherwise would not be likely to hear their works. Thus Internet radio serves an important public interest by bridging the gap between listener and artist. The CRB prices Internet radio out of the industry, and is unduly burdensome to all who will suffer as a result of its passage. Along with thousands of other Internet radio listeners, we ask that the CRB not be made into law.

Laura Just7268701I think that it helps...because people can hear a song and if they like the song then they usually buy the cd!AccuRadio should NOT BE BANNED! It's fun to listen to a good radio on the internet...nobody that listens is allowed to rip or burn the music..they have to buy it...please DO NOT take this station of air. You would have ALOT of pissy people if you did!!AccuRadio:HitKast or AccuRadio:Classic or AccuRadio:Broadway
Mark J. Haynes86505-090201No. There are artists I never would have heard of or purchased their music had it not been for internet radio. This rate request must be disallowed. 248 Tara Glifort4214101I believe it helps I spend alot of time on the computer and having a music venue to listen to is very enjoyable. I often hear music I have never heard before that I like and I search the web to purchase these songs. Without being introduced to new music I would never be exposed to it elsewhere and thus not but the new music.I love my internet radio I don't often sign petitions, but this is very upsetting to me, & I want to support the cause to save internet radio. My FAVORITE internet radio is Accuradio hands down please do not take my radio away.
Scott Ferguson9139001Helps as long as the industry will embrace new technology. Please save modernity of the music system. The "scorched earth" policy lobbied by the RIAA is not fair to the small player in the music streaming business. Can you say monopolies?Radioparadise, Pandora
Kathryn Morton4820801Helps. I listen to an 80's Alternative station. I have heard more stuff I hadn't heard in so long that they inspired me to replace all of the tapes and CDs I've lost over the years. Plus, I've been exposed to stuff I'd NEVER heard back then. This is counter-productive if the intent is what is stated. This won't make more money for anyone. It will reduce income from independent web radio to nil when they are all driven off the air. It's a pathetic ploy by commercial radio to force out independents and it shouldn't be tolerated.www.flashbackalternatives.com
