The State of Vermont finally backed down and Intervale Compost Products is staying open. This win proves that when we refuse to let bureaucrats kill vital infrastructure, we actually get results. Keep paying attention because we are not finished holding them accountable for these ridiculous threats.
PETITION IN SUPPORT OF INTERVALE COMPOST PRODUCTS
We the undersigned recognize the value that Intervale Compost Products brings to the State of Vermont and hereby petition the State of Vermont to allow and support its continued operation within the Burlington Intervale.
Compost provides numerous and significant benefits to our society and environment including: increased productivity of agricultural land, waste diversion and a corresponding decreased reliance on landfills, improvements to the quality of Vermont\'s lakes and streams, decreased reliance on chemical and petrochemical fertilizers, reduction of the State\'s carbon footprint, employment opportunities and economic stimulation.
Intervale Compost Products is Vermont\'s largest waste composting enterprise. No viable alternatives currently exist to manage the materials currently being composted there.
Intervale Compost Products is an essential component of a nationally acclaimed model for agricultural sustainability and its educational programs provide a unique opportunity for the next generation of Vermonter\'s to experience and understand the value of composting to our lives and environment.
The State of Vermont continues to ignore the absolute necessity of this operation while our landfills overflow. I have been busy demanding answers from the bureaucrats who think they can shutter us without a replacement plan. They are gambling with our environment and I am not letting them get away with this silence.

My kids love the educational programs here. It is such a shame they might close.
