Name: Rose Channce on Jul 9, 2011Comments: I have live in within the community for most of my life. I remember when it was annouced that the Moss Side Precinct was to close. I didn't understand why such a busy thriving shopping centre right in the heart of the community would have to be shut down, but it did. After some time the Hulme Market opened. The cultural diversity of the traders stall reflect the diversity of the community. The market has a warm atmosphere and some fantastic stalls. I feel it is very important for our community. Please keep Hulme Market and all of its Traders, we really don't need or want a B and M in place of it!Flag

Name: Jan Hanson on Jul 9, 2011Comments: I love hulme market and there are more creative ways to fill the empty spaces. The market offers great opportunities for local people to run interesting and independent businesses. There is real potential within the market to encourage and support first time traders or people setting up in business. This is important when so many jobs are being lost due to government cuts and enforced job losses. People could be be encouraged and supported to set up their own busineness offering a valuable opporutunity to develop business skills. We do not want or need b & m bargains. There is already ASDA, a poundshop and instore. We do not want more low paid jobs for local people. We want independent traders who reflect hulmes distinct character who offer real choice for local shoppers....and the chance to get to know each other, develop a relationship, find out what is happening, which we do not get with superstores. Deciding that an area can be regenerated, without consultation, by putting in another superstore...is a short -sighted and flawed approach to regeneration which shows a lack or respect for all the wonderful independent traders in the Hulme market and Hulme High st. who have succeeded despite a lack of support from MCC.Flag

This market has been a spring board for many local entrepreneurs who without the benefit of the local market, may not have managed their first step on the business ladder. www.angeltarotguidance.com www.mind-detox.org.ukFlag

Name: Shelagh Murphy on Jul 11, 2011Comments: Hulme Market is one of the more interesting places in Hulme, it represents local people rather than a faceless souless shopping mall. So much of the original well planned and effective redevelopment of the early 90's seem to be being ripped up. It has worked be proud of it and help it flourish. Do something to support local people and NOT corporate developers.Flag

Name: Helen Davies on Jul 12, 2011Comments: Hulme market is my favourite place to shop in all of manchester. Surely manchester city council see what benefits the market bring to the local community and the people who work there! I would be disgusted if they allow B&M take over this site. So many characters and personalities in one place it would be a shame to see this disappear for yet again another B&M! I hope the community come together and we save hulme market!!Flag

To take away the Market would be seriously damaging to the community. After all that money spent renovating Hulme & then taking the heart of Hulme away just does not make any sense.Flag

Name: Jason Cooke on Jul 13, 2011Comments: Hulme market is hope to several independent traders who offer goods that you just simply won't find anywhere else. Markets are at the heart of any community - especially one so diverse as Hulme, which simply can't be served adequately by a multi-national corporation who only stock things they can sell in bulk. Save Hulme market!Flag
