Comments: This appears to be a very short sighted move on the part of the National Trust. Are there no alternatives to closure

Comments: This is too important a cultural landmark to be swept away in order to save a few pennies. It must stay!

Comments: The cottage belongs to the people of Cromarty. For NTS to close it would be a breach of trust - particularly if they continue to take income from their holiday cottages in Cromarty.

Comments: A shortsighted reaction in an attempt to save money. Once closed and the collection destroyed it will never be returned. This is an important part of our Heritage and should remain so.

Comments: It is so important to keep this cottage open for the public. So much work has gone into it and so much valuable information is held within it, that it would be tragic to lose this source of some of our significant history.

Comments: As a former resident of Cromarty, and being totally indebted to the sterling work of Martin and Frieda Gostwick for my knowledge of Hugh Miller, I can say it is absolutely unthinkable that the National Trust for Scotland should actually fail to live up to their name by betraying the trust given them by the people of Scotland to preserve the legend that is Hugh Miller.
