Malcolm BloomerIt is unbelievable that "America's Game" is so willing to allow professional baseball to leave the home of the Major League Baseball's Hall of Fame. It would be so easy for Major League Baseball to schedule an inter-league game in Cooperstown that actually counts in the standings. We have dedicated inter-league games twice each season.
John Schierenbeck
Thomas Rushplease keep this tradition going, I'm sorry but this should be for the people, not for the MLB organization & players
Betsy SywetzSurely some compromise can preserve this tradition. It means a lot to people who live in this region near the Hall of Fame
Eileen JeffreysBaseball is a game of skill and tradition. Closing these games would, I feel, impact the game negatively as well as the village of Cooperstown and the state of NY. Please keep the tradition going.
Pam Sherman Drake
Rick GilchristI was born and raised in Cooperstown and am appalled to hear about this game being canceled in future years. It is a tradition for Cooperstown residents and baseball fans coming to the Hall of Fame. This makes no sense at all.
Patricia A. YoungI can't believe that those at the top of our great American passtime are so short-sighted not to see the value in maintaining tradition. Many of us grew up with baseball in Cooperstown and many others dreamed of seeing the place where the game came to be. "Say it isn't so!"
alexkeep the game it is a great tradition!

Terry V. KlepeyThe game has been played in Cooperstown longer than I have been alive. Please allow it to continue. Cooperstown has done a lot to promote baseball and I would hate to see this game called off. Thank you for your consideration.

Lois KellasThe fans have stuck by baseball even though the prices to see a game are outrageous because of their salaries and even after seeing the players involved in drug and steroid use. It is time that the players and owners stick by their fans!! Canceling a 70-year tradition is a real slap in the face to all fans.
AnonymousI do not understand how you can feel it is too difficult to schedule the annual Hall of fame game in Cooperstown and yet you are able to schedule games in China! Why is it that the local area has to be denied this long standing tradition? Pleases reconsider and reestablishe this long honored game.

H HerringThe game has been a part of baseball and Cooperstown since 1941. It's a shame that with all that is going on in baseball these days that Major League Baseball finds scheduling this game a problem. With the number of teams out there you cant tell me two teams cant make it for one game. This is a game that allows people to attend a major league event that may not have access to the major league fields. Being from Cooperstown I know how important this game has been to both the town and to all the tourists who have attended these games. It's sad that a great tradition like this has to end. I think Major League Baseball should remember that the fans are what keeps the sport alive.
Tyler LePardI can't believe this historic event has been canceled! As if my faith in MLB hasn't been shaken enough...

Sarah WirtzfeldI grow up in Cooperstown and the Hall of Fame game was very important to the village.. The senior class earned money by selling hot dogs etc... It is a nice tradition that should continue...

AnonymousI graduated from cooperstown and this is a tradition that should live on....put it back to the way it was, just one weekend!!
AnonymousGrowing up in Cooperstown, the Baseball Hall of Fame game was always the highlight of the year. It would be a shame for it to cease for all the young people growing up in our community now. Save the game
mark marshHow absurd not to have a major league baseball game played in the "home of baseball" and where the hall of fame is located. This is all the more reason why baseball is losing its fans!! How ironic that baseball can begin its season in Japan, and is considering playing in China in the future, yet baseball finds it difficult to schedule ONE game in Cooperstown,New York.....THE HOME OF BASEBALL. Basesall has lost a fan in me!!!!
Ryan LesterSelig don't screw this up too.

Ken TingleyBaseball needs to continue to give back to its roots and Cooperstown is its roots.

AnonymousIt seems simple: If no Hall of Fame game, then no Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Hall of Fame can just send the plaques to the inducted players via FedEx.

AnonymousIt is interesting to note that the MLB players can not find time to come to Cooperstown for the annual Hall of Fame game but seem to have plenty of time to sign expensive autographs in Cooperstown after they are inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Paul A. ClarkMr. Selig The game should be preserved for the great fans, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and the long standing tradition of the game

Michael PapeFrankly, it is an embarrassment that this petition is even necessary. How can baseball find the time to play exhibition games in Japan and China, but not in the one place where baseball's legacy is most revered. I sincerely hope that you, Mr. Selig, rethink this absurd decision and ensure that Doubleday Field perpetually hosts two Major League teams once per year. Any burden to the players is negligible as they will only have to make the grueling trip to Cooperstown twice, at most, in their careers. Bring back the heritage.

Larry NovakThis is one game that must continue. Baseball is built on tradition, keep this tradition going.
sara zimmermanplease!!!! allow the hall of fame game to continue in the wonderful village of cooperstown. in addition to the great tradition i truly believe that there should be at least 1 notable sports event that does not have to be based on revenue. there are also many local people who would never see a professional baseball game if were not for the hall of fame game. i just spoke with one such person. for local residents who ahve not grown up near a stadium, they just don't drive the 4 hours to new york or boston to see a game. Commissioner Selig, i implore you to make the right decision, which is to support tradition.

AnonymousMy son and I have gone to every hall of fame game since 2000 except for 2004-its been a great experience for both of us
Joan BunnI find it extremely upsetting that the players cannot give their fans a day at Cooperstown when they are all making obscene salaries and the fans must spend an exoribent amount of money to attend a game.
