Rhoda Grant MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Highlands & Islands, is calling on HM Revenue & Customs to abandon their plans to close their office in Wick.
Mrs Grant said "These are important quality jobs to Wick and the wider Caithness area, particularly at this time with the rundown of the Dounreay nuclear plant well underway.
The previous Labour Led Scottish Executive was committed to relocating government jobs throughout rural Scotland and it is sad therefore that the government in Westminster has plans to remove these much needed jobs in an area already undergoing economic change.
I appreciate the level of concern this issue has raised in Wick and Caithness and will do all within my power to campaign for the retention of these jobs."
