we are fighting to overturn the proposed decision by staffordshire county council to close all of its care homes and facillities.
Hillport house is a specialised unit equipted to cater for people with alzhemiers desease. We have been open now for 42 years and since 1996 have managed to maintain a high enough standard of care to gain 4 consecutive charter marks awarded for excellence in care and customer services.
The current proposal by the council is that care should be provided for people in their own homes,which sounds like a great idea but unfortunatly for our clients they have reached a point in their illness where this is no longer possible.our clients are not unique it is a fact that there will always be people who are unable to care for themselves in their own homes.Hillport house provides a service to its clients which is secound to none ,providing individual care to each and every resident.The decision to close all council homes is set to take place within the next 12 months and in theory rendering most of our clients homeless as there are not sufficient spaces in the private sector to accomadate the 500+ clients which live in council homes.The proposal to provide extra provisions for clients in their own homes is ludicrous as as of yet there in nothing in place to implement this.
