Name: Anonymous on Apr 26, 2009Comments: you can never replace the history that that tree holds, it is so precious and so much part of England and all the good things it stands for..there must be other ways to improve the ammenities without destroying an ammenity everyone already has....a tree cannot be cut down if it is an ammenity and this tree certainly is providing a glorious aspect for all those looking across the grounds and all those using the grounds. Please locate the sports pavillion somewhere else..........Flag

Name: Helen Tuma on Apr 26, 2009Comments: I sign for the petition because I can not find any reason why a tree which grows about 200 years should be in the way for any idea of an building which will last only few. There are always alternatives.Flag

Name: Charlotte Revely on Apr 26, 2009Comments: This is a beautiful tree that could be saved or at least have its life prolonged with dignity should the Council choose. It also takes up water to prevent flood damage, provides cover for wild birds, bats and insects and helps to manage our carbon emissions. Please change the plans to allow the tree some breathing space to recover and listen to the people of Crewkerne.Flag

Name: Marcus Barrett on Apr 26, 2009Comments: I support points 1&4 of this petition. I cannot yet put my name to points 2 or 3 for the following reasons: a) I think the planning process is the place for debate as to location of the new pavilion taking into account the views of those living adjacent the site - I do not live near this application site myself. b) the application, to the best of my knowledge, actually made provision for the Lucombe Oak tree within the design. Any disease the tree may have is incidental to this application. c) I believe there may be practical constraints on locating the pavilion on the site of the exisiting sports club and I would like further info on these problems before making up my own mind. d) Further info is still required as to the cost and practicability of saving and improving the health of our 200 yr-old Lucombe Oak - that is why we need a stay of execution to obtain these facts.Flag
