HELP US TO SAVE THE ELIZABETH O'GRADY KINDERGARTEN PREAMBLE The City of Charles Sturt is proposing the sale of the now disused Community Centre at 4 Charles Sturt Avenue, Grange. The rear of this property has been leased by the Elizabeth O'Grady Kindergarten for 10 years. This glorious green space has been a paradise for children at the centre hosting a vegetable and herb garden, mulberry trees, berry bushes for climbing and secret hiding games, treasure hunts, 'Olympic' events, a cubby house, wandering pathways, worm farms and of course thousands of games of chasy and hide and seek. The sale of the council's disused property next door will see this space fall into private hands and be taken away from our children. Potentially to be subdivided and replaced by imposing homes where our once beautiful kindergarten play area was. PETITION We urge the City of Charles Sturt NOT to sell the property at 4 Charles Sturt Avenue. We ask the City of Charles Sturt to continue leasing the rear yard of the above mentioned property to the Elizabeth O'Grady Kindergarten to ensure places in the kindergaretn for local families for generations to come. If the Council does decide to sell the property we urge them to subdivide the property leaving the rear yard to be leased to the Elizabeth O'Grady Kindergarten as it has been since 1997. We therefore respectfully ask the council not to take this property away from our children. Instead we urge the council to let our children keep this special area which gives them space, fresh air, room to run and the freedom to play and dream.
