Google Reader is a beautiful product for the small amount of people using it. It allows you to follow RSS feeds and share items with the people you have put in your social group (from GChat.) It's different from social networks like Facebook and Google+ in that discussions are anchored around real things, and usually take place within small social circles. And that's why we love it!
Google is trying to kill Reader by eliminating the Share button, in a misguided attempt to thrust all these good and loyal customers into the public Google+ sphere, pushing comments out in the open and destroying this social network. Well we won't move. Friends of mine discussed the option of finding another product similar than Google Reader, and we'd do that more quickly than follow this product to Google+. But we don't want to, really. We're happy just where we are.
Google has shown that it is responsive to user feedback, so please share and sign this petition if you don't want Reader to go away!
(Also, it should be noted that the group of people who use Reader are probably what advertisers would call "influencers" in their fields, and though they may be small in number could be powerful in voice.)
