On Wednesday (09/06/09) the South East's most loved news presenters Beverly Thomson and Geoff Clark were told their partnership would end just minutes after their broadcast had ended. Both have worked together for several years now and proved to be a very popular duo. Geoff left Meridian for the BBC news team and before that was a dedicated sports reporter. Beverly has worked for the BBC since the beginning as both a reporter and presenter. The BBC have angrily denied claims that they are being ageist and say that this is not the reason they have been axed from the show. They also deny that it is due to cutbacks forced by the current economic situation. Beverly will be moving to another part of the BBC and Geoff will be forced to quit at the end of his contract in October. The BBC will be shooting themselves in the foot to loose such a passionate, much loved pair of presenters. It would be impossible to replace their warmth and kindest towards the public.
