To District 4 Fire Commissioners --
As a resident of District 4, I am alarmed to hear of the potentially imminent funding cuts to the Enterprise Volunteer Fire Company. My understanding is that the entire company operates for costs similar to the salary of just one career firefighter. Furthermore, I understand the hiring of two additional career firefighters, at a cost doubling the required funding of Enterprise Volunteer Fire Company, has been proposed in the upcoming budget. Enterprise is a nearly 100 year old community cornerstone staffed by men and women who dedicate themselves selflessly to the protection of it's residents out of a rare and fading sense of duty. It would be a devastating moral crime to deny the residents of District 4 this service and a travesty to deny these willing individuals the opportunity to serve.
I respectfully request that the Enterprise Volunteer Fire Company be included in the upcoming budget as a line item and continue to receive funding comparable to that received in recent years.
