Name: Janice Kettler on Jun 16, 2009Comments: There will always be pressure to continue overdeveloping Santa Barbara with the consequences of exponentially increased costs, crowding, and crime. This proposal is very much against the practical, aesthetic, and cultural interests of Santa Barbara.Flag

Name: Mike Mallen on Jun 16, 2009Comments: This park is a respite from a noisy, mechanized world. It is a place of quiet walks under a wide open sky with a 360 degree view including the ocean, mountains, the wide fields underfoot, the oaks and eucalyptus of Douglas park and the surrounding neighborhoods. It is one of the few places within city limits where one can walk the peaceful trails under a big, unobstructed starry sky. Children can ride their fat tire bikes there. It is a non-mechanized mecca, a natural refuge. So you are going insert the noise and dust of BMX machines, wipe out the starlit night with giant lights, crowd out the walking and biking trails with buildings and BMX tracts, shatter the day and nightime peace with an amplified PA system This is to be done in the name of Santa Barbarans How inconsistent with the values of it citizens both present and past, including Pearl chase and all the others who have worked to make this city a beacon of beauty, wise development and environmental consciousness. These intrusions on Eilings park are a repudiation of the efforts of all those who are and have worked to provide Santa Barbarans with a place of natural refuge from the visual and aural cacaphony surrounding us. It is sacriligious - against all that Santa Barbarans hold sacred.Flag

Name: Walter Knapp on Jun 18, 2009Comments: I am presently recuperating from two operations (problems initially caused by an inherited severe balance problem). However, I will help with tasks I am able to perform. It is important to stop these "Empire Builders"! We desperately need top notch legal support and help. Why not approach this in a similar manner as the Creek Council and CPA did with the Mark Lee development Do it as soon as possible! Walter KnappFlag
