His passion for finance and devotion to his students is unparalleled. I look forward to the opportunity to meet in person to discuss my support.Flag

His commitment to the Finace Investestments program at CSULB is irreplaceable. The future development/success of the SMIF program will suffer without him. Don't let this happen.Flag

Name: Mark Woerz on Apr 22, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: Dr. Ammermann is one of the best teachers I had in finance at CSULB in 2003-2004. He always went beyond the normal scope of teaching by showing up for finance related functions outside of class. No other teacher that I had at CSULB was as involved with the Finance Dept. and possessed such a vast knowledge of finance related matters. I find it utterly shocking that CSULB would even consider removing one of the most dedicated teachers. I would hope that CSULB would thoroughly review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Dr. Ammermann.Flag

Name: Joseph Vera on Apr 22, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: Dr. Ammermann is an excellent teacher. He is one of the few who actually are willing to help you out and answer questions. He does not simply go to class and read a book to you in order to fullfill an obligation to be there. He is actually willing to put in extra time with you and help you learn what you need to learn. He is also very good at helping you understand. Some teachers don't help students understand, they just repeat themselves and think it will make more sense the second time they say it. I hope that an excellent teacher like Dr. Ammermann is not cut without good reason.Flag

Name: Rad Nakama on Apr 22, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: It has come to my attention that Dr. Ammermann is being released from the CSULB faculty. Dr. Ammermann has been a great influence not only to me but to many others. He is a noteworthy professor, and teaches with a touch of humor but at the same time instills knowledge into the minds of listeners. Personally Dr. Ammermann has always been humble to answer any questions that crossed my mind and I am honored to have been one of his students. CSULB will be losing a great commodity and it would be very detrimental to the finance department if they release him.Flag

Name: Lloyd Torres on Apr 22, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: I took FIN 350 in winter with Dr. Ammermann and I found him to be an exceptional instructor. He is very knowledgeable of the subject which he teaches. In addition, he is an instructor which is very approachable. He goes the extra mile for his students. He'll answer your questions with a sincere attempt to help you grasp the concepts at hand and not just to get you out of his office as others do. But he wont stop there, for he goes beyond his capacity as an intructor, he serves as a mentor and professional liason to his students. I know. I have his signature on my AIMR sponsorship form. I believe that these qualities make him an exceptional and invaluable asset to the College of Business Administration School and more over to the Finance Department.Flag

Name: Matthew Huefner on Apr 22, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: Dr. Ammermann is one of the most, if not the most, highly qualified instructors in the finance department and CSULB. Dr. Ammermann motivates students to excel and takes the time to make sure that students understand the material if they have questions regarding the material. He will go out of his way to educate students about the specific areas of finance that they are interested in. Dr. Ammermann just last week took time to explain to me how the bloomberg computer system works and how it helps financial managers, something I have never learned about prior (although I am already going to graduate in one month) and I would not have learned anything about it had he not taken the time. When I was in his class, It was taught jointly with the chair and Dr. Ammerman is the one who taught most of the time. I don't know why the university is considering not having him back, but if the reasoning is not due to fraud, non-compliance with university rules/regulations, than it seems to me that the finance department will be taking a huge loss, puting us in the (red)!Flag

Name: Armando Sandoval on Apr 23, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: If CSULB loses Dr. Ammermann, there is no doubt that the program will suffer. The description of Dr. Pete on this petition is accurate as far as I'm concerned. His extensive knowledge of finance, and business for that matter, should be considered an asset by the university. I knew nothing about investments or finance before enrolling in one of Dr. Pete's courses. By the time I completed the second course with Dr. Pete, my knowledge of investment and finance was so extensive that he encouraged me to apply for the SMIF. I was a member of SMIF 00-01. He encouraged me to enroll in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program, considered the most prestigious investment certification in the world. Not only did he encourage me to pursue the CFA certification; he also wrote a two page recommendation letter to the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts recommending me to receive a scholarship to study for the CFA certification. I receive the scholarship and passed the exam. He has been very influential in the shaping in my career path, and I am very grateful he was a professor at CSULB while I was a student there; otherwise my education would have suffered. If CSULB dismisses Dr. Peter Ammermann it will be a step backwards for the University.Flag

Name: Eugene Shin on Apr 23, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: I strongly believe that his teaching methods are sound. I can understand why students would consider him a sub par professor and why they would give him poor evaluations. This is due to his difficult exams and the enormouse amount of material that he covers during the course. Students who are serious about finance and about their education consider him as one of the most knowledgable and insightful professors at CSULB. Most students trying to get by rate him as poor, due to thier weak performance in his course. I strongly urge the CSULB administration to retain Dr. Ammermann as a full time professor. Thank you.Flag

His involvement with organizations such as the Orange County Society of Investment Managers and in his role as advisor to the Financial Management Association has provided business students in the finance department critical exposure and career development opportunities. Such opportunities have given me, as well as other students, the prospect to work for Investment Managers in theFlag

Name: Jerry Dillon on Apr 23, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: I am a former student of Dr. Ammermann's finance 450 class. Before his class I didn't know what I wanted to do after I graduated. Thanks to Dr. Ammermann I now know exactly what I want to do once I graduate, be an investment analyst and eventualy a portfolio manager. Since I took his class I have recieved straight A's in all of my finance classes(three last semester and currently have the highest standing in my FIN 480 class). In the past I had been a B student in my finance courses. I feel that my experience in Dr. Ammermann's portfolio management class was by far the most benificial of all the classes I will have taken in my undergraduate studies. His in depth discussions helped me truly understand concepts of finance that have enabled me to apply his teachings to real life with success. I learned so much in each and every one of his lectures. You could tell he really put time in to his preperation and he cared about us learning the material. Every question I ever had was answered completely, if we asked about something he would make sure we understood. His teaching was at a level that made me always feel I was learning something of importance and not just some watered down presentaion of a finance concept.Dr. Ammermann has been by far the best teacher I have studied under, if he leaves the faculty it will be a huge loss to our students and our business program.Flag

I graduated in May 2003, with a degreee in Business Administration, concentration in Finance, and was selected the Oustanding Graduate of Colege of Business Administration. I had a Security Analysis class with Dr Ammermann, and I consider him to be one of the very best professors I have ever had throughout my education, and including my postgraduate studies at Loyola Marymount University. I can say only the very best about Dr Pete; he is dedicated, resourceful, intelligent, inspiring and fair. He was,and I said this before, the professor who influenced my career choice. I will always try to stay in contact with him; we don't get too many chances in life to benefit from associations with people like Dr Ammermann. I am deeply shocked by the Deans' decision to let Dr Pete go. Administrators tend to forget that without the professors like Ammerman, Rhoads, Thames, to name a few, CBA is just another nice looking building. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help, and thank you for keeping em informed, Alex StanojevicFlag

I would recommend be let go and Prof. Ammerman is far from making this list. This decision is a complete mistake. Go ahead and get rid of a passionate teacher so we can be tought by a lowsy teacher who just goes through the routine and we learn nothing. This is a bad move.Flag
