I personally got to like all the actors and the roles they play. With Torri as the leader, the series is a strong one. Traditional gender roles are not important in this series. | 802 | nicoleta | I must say that the only thing that comes to my mid when it comes to Stargate is that the only characters that get their status to be changed despite of how us the Fans feel are the ones who happen to be " doctors", in sg-1 we have the departure of dr. Jackson, then the death of Dr. Janet Fraiser and now in Atlantis we have Dr. Beckett and Dr Weir that despite being so popular change their status from regular to recurrent.
Instead of Saying save Elizabeth Weir we should be saying SAVE THE STARGATE DOCTORS.
I like Weir and she's the main reason why I watch the show and it shoud be fair for her to stay as regular character, she is the show's soul for me. So please keep her as a regular |

Well, I have to say that I cannot agree about the subject of this petition. The character of Dr. Elizabeth Weir is better than some others on the show but - to be honest - it's quite boring. Even the character of Dr. Zelenka is more interesting.
There were moments when Dr. Weir would stare into space - obviously thinking - and the expression on her face would just be stupid. And the process of decision making takes too long with her, even when everything is quite clear. After several episodes I started to wish that her character wouldn't be shown so often.
I don't think Torri Higginson is a bad actress, but the character of Dr. Elizabeth Weir definitely needs to be quick thinking, more alive and more involved to stay on the show.

Less Lizzie mean less sparky! :( If she is going to be in even less episodes that means that most of the epiodes are going to occur offworld. Thats just the same as SG-1. I love SG-1 but we don't want the same things happening all the time. They need to explore the city, meet some real-REAL-life ancients, Elizabeth needs to go offworld more to negociate alliances, they've got plenty of enemies in Atlantis but almost no worthy allies. Sam Carter is going to be in more episodes of atlantis than Elizabeth in season 4. Don't get me wrong I love Sam but she's already done her fair share in SG-1. I would love to see her in some episodes of Atlantis but just not replacing Elizabeth. |

The writers have written them in such a way that for me it is not just because of the storylines that I watch but mostly about the relationships between the characters. I hated it when Lt. Ford was written off and I am totally digusted with what is happening with the Dr. weir character. And with them bringing in new characters -- what???? If they say its because they have run out of storylines for Dr. weir then they are writers. That is what they do -- imagine and write. Will I still be watching next season? I don't know. And that answer bothers me because if you asked me before this happened I would have quickly and certainly said YES. |

Wier, Shappard, Carson, Teyla and Makay are what make Atlantis so special. It lost part of it's charm when Lt. Ford was phased out; now apparently you're going to do the same to Carson and Wier as well? Are you trying to cancel your own show by putting off the fans? If so, keep up what you are doing! You are on the right track.
I may not bother watching if this is what you are going to do to all our favourite people. I am so terribly dissapointed in the show, now that I've heard this news. Next you'll be getting rid of Sheppard, Makay and Teyla!
I have been a faithful viewer of the Stargate franchise for years, but this has been a tough year. I wonder if there is any point in watching the show any more this year, if this is the fate of the Atlantis characters?
Seems to me that there is a real wraith someplace in Administration! Maybe he/she should be pink-slipped and leave Carson and Wier alone!!!

| 835 | SMB | I am an avid fan of SGA. The main reason I got interested in the show was the relationships between the main characters on the show. I enjoy seeing their friendships develop as they face the ongoing challenges of exploring the Pegasus galaxy. Yes, I also enjoy the adventure plotlines, but more important for me, I want to care about the characters. I want to see them grow and develop and become closer with each other as a team.
Elizabeth Weir is VITAL to the SGA team. Not as simply a recurring character. As a full-fledged member of the team. She is intelligent, thought provoking, has a conscience and can kick butt when she needs to. She is a strong woman in a leadership role who cares about those she works with. Tori Higginson's portrayal of her is spot on and she is perfect in this role. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - find a way to keep Elizabeth with us full time. The fanbase wants this - please listen to us! |

Many of us tune in every week because we enjoy the cast interaction, even when the storyline itself is less than engrossing. Dr Weir is the team leader, the moral center. Downsizing her role leaves a huge hole in the fabric of the show, which can't be filled by anyone else. Many sci-fi fans are women and we like seeing women who are strong and intelligent . . . and in charge. Don't start playing with cast chemistry. You will not be happy with the results. |
