But I'm hoping that this petition will help you change your mind and find a way to come back. You, well I guess Dr. Jackson, helped me to decide that Archeology as a possible career. Without you I don't think it would have become so deeply engrained into my mind. I hope that you come back to the show. Comments: I may be late... too late. But I've only just now discovered the fate of Micheal Shank's character- Daniel Jackson. And I've been watching for months now. Personally I can't picture sg-1 without him, or him without them for that matter. Weather or not it's Micheal Shanks, you can't just throw away such a remarkable and inspiring character like Daniel. He and Jack compliment each other, well, technically not compliment. But their like Laurel and Hardy..... I'm seriouse. Daniel is the one with the good heart. He would give his life for 1 man, he gave it for more than that. And he makes me want to be a better person, so... if there is any way. And considering the fact that it's sci-fi I believe there is, bring Daniel back... even if you have to put him in anothers body, dang it! ; ) If you take him away forever, SG-1 will never be SG-1 again. Comments: Having just discovered "Stargate SG-1" in the past week, and doing internet surfing/ study on the series, I was extremely disappointed to find out that what I have to look forward to is the absence of Daniel Jackson as played by Micheal Shanks. I find the interplay between ALL the original characters (I have just "caught up to" season two) to be just absoulutely enjoyable. Daniel Jackson is one of the original characters from the movie. I feel that the departure of the character (and actor!) is a major loss to the series. Indeed, most series that have "lost" an original character suffer a loss of ratings equivalent to the character's popularity. Please, please--both MGM AND Mr. Shanks--please reconsider the decision (after all, even Bobby Ewing managed to return from the "dead")
