| 56 | brittany webb | i have been a fan of da for about 2 years. while i didnt have a subscription, nor did i post any art i valued my membership nonetheless. my issue is not with the fanart being deleted,i must say that i am disturbed with the fact that there are at least 5 "moderators and beta testers" that blatently harass and offend people. the people( 3 of them around 15 ) are patrolling artist after artist leaving there snide comments filled with discrimating words and vulgar language. it says in you own tos that you are not allowed to draw or write things that are offensive to other members. but, here they are calling names that are just that and doing worse. its a shame though, because i was actually drawing again after 10 years and i was going to support da by buying a subscription and filling it with my art . unfortunately, with some of the comments ive read and there ovious detestment of fan art and their " it must come down" attitude im sorry to say i dont fell the overpowering welcome i once did not so long ago. i hope for your sake as well as the millions of members you have currently (which are rapidly reclining) that you adress this problem, for you are only hurting the people you gave haven to

As long as the original producer of the Manga or Anime does not mind their characters being re-produced, it is legal AND people love it. I've seen some awesome art that just happened to have a Manga character in it. And Manga and Anime itself is rated for maturity so fan art within the original art's maturity level should be allowed. i.e., InuYasha is for Mature readers only - nakedness is in the original work and should therefore be allowed in the fan art. |

I feel most pictures removed from Deviant Art did not violate any TOS prior to the ex post facto. I see nothing wrong with artistic nudity on an -art- community. For those claiming the picture may be too graphic for the kiddies; Isn't someone supposed to be 18+ to be on the DA community in the first place? Where it the maturity in an 18+ year old clicking a picture that specifically warns "the graphic contains mature content" and then getting upset over cleavage or body parts being shown? Why does this type of art have to be taken away? Can’t the “mature content” note be enough of a warning for those who may not be able to handle such things? As for “aging up the character” in terms of cartoon-replications; How can a full-figured (and I emphasize the –full-) female drawing be confused as a minor? Please stop taking away this category of art, as it is just as enjoyable as any other sort. Thank you for your consideration. |
| 83 | David Rosenberg | I've been a big fan of Anime fanfiction and fan art for almost as long as I knew the difference between Anime and Cartoons. That DA is nitpicking and harassing the artists it once derived it's origins from is hypocritical. I think instead of sending this petition to just the head of deviantART a list of grievances, names of any well known signees and the total count of signees should be sent to the newsrooms of newspapers around the country. While many may ignore it, just one writer noticing the number of begrieved artists and watchers could help stop this Victorian censorship.

I have seen some of my favorite fan art artists leave because of DA deleting pieces of work that was apperantly 'prono-graphic' when it was really just a Erotic Nude just drawn out instead of photographed.
DA Has become a place of war in my opinon and it needs to be fix BACK to what it was before. |

| 100 | Anonymous | Yes, I'm one of the ones that had pieces pulled from DA:nine all total. Some of which were up for some time. And I think its a real shame that the mod there, reallysquared, takes the stance he does concerning fan art as well as sending/encouraging minors to go policing other members.
My subscription was a gift to me, and the one that gave it wont be renewing or buying any others because of this. Its a shame things have come to this. DA will get rid of fan art, but will leave up things that are porn in nature under the guise of artistic nude, glamor portraits and fetishes. |
