Who is negotiating on behalf of your child's education NOT the Teacher's Union, that's for sure! It's the Union's job to fight for their member's salary increases and force the cuts elsewhere. Did you know that CUSD teachers have yet to take a pay cut Did you know that CUSD teachers are STILL receiving raises Did you know that they voted to cut the newer teachers, allowing pay raises for themselves and therefore caused class sizes to increase Did you know that 85% of CUSD's budget goes to Salaries and Benefits Yup, that's right! That leaves just 15% of the money remaining to cut directly from our children. CUSD plans to cut ALL sports, ALL extra-curricular activites, ALL music, GATE, AAA, and International Baccalaureate programs, facilities & maintenance, close 2 schools, cut ALL K-8 summer schools, and cut CSR!! Seriously What's left (Um, nothing.) The economy is bad, we've all taken hits. Teachers need to STOP taking increases, and start taking cuts. NO MORE CUTS ON THE BACKS OF OUR KIDS!! $323,158,586 of the total $381,716.882 spent at CUSD goes to Salaries, Pensions and Benefits. That's 84.66% of CUSD's budget. Please sign the petition to encourage our teachers to come to the table and take the cuts that could save our kid's programs. CUSD still has to cut another $25 million+ next year... it MUST to come from the teachers, there's nothing left for our kids to give. Please also email both the President and Executive Director of the teacher's union (CUEA) to express your concern. Vicki Soderberg, President vsoderberg@cuea.org Christine Balentine, Executive Director cbalentine@cta.org Thank you, Parent & Advocate for My Children

This petition is a grass roots effort, sponsored by parents who want the best for their children. We support the school through volunteer efforts throughout the year, both on and off campus. We deeply understand the hard economic times, and expect that ALL parties to our children's education give something.
