In July 2005 the Majeed brothers purchased Crawley Town Football Club. At the time they promised a £2m investment over 3 years and an exciting time for the fans and players of the club as they wished to give something back to the community of Crawley.
This dream however soon turned into a nightmare.
It soon became apparent all was not well with the owners, they sacked staff and the management team very quickly and threatened and bullied players to leave the club.
Soon we were bottom of the league. In March 2006 the situation deepened when we found out one of the Majeeds was an undischarged bankrupt and not fit to be a director of the club. They then stopped the players wages and plunged the club into turmoil.
To the credit of the players they rose above the off the field problems and ensured that the club stayed in the Conference on merit.
The club however were fined £5000 and deducted 3 points due to the breaking of league regulations.
However the players contracts were not being paid and many left or are in the process of leaving as these contracts are now not valid.
This has caused financial hardship for many of them, including one who had to cut short his honeymoon due to a lack of money.
The final chapter now sees the Majeeds sending our club into administration. This means the players will not get what they are owed, the club will be deducted ten points from the start of next season and the fans distraught.
Remember only 10 months ago these same people were promising £2m investment, now we see nothing.
To rub salt in the wounds the Majeeds say the club owe them £700k. This is false and nothing short of a disgrace.
This financial hardship doesnt stop the Majeeds however buying new £250k cars and spending more money on bars and hairdressing salons they also own.
Young fans who wished to protest have also been threatened and intimidated by the Majeeds "heavies". They are bullies and cowards who have destroyed a football club loved by so many.
Please sign this peition and tell the Majeeds that the majority will not stand for this behaviour and to leave our football club alone.
