Duane LeetI continue to be amazed by the fact that in this age of historic preservation, which is an outgrowth of the 1960's "Urban Renewal" era in which so many landmark buildings were destroyed, that we still have gems like this threatened with destruction. I completely support preserving this building.

AnonymousWhat would Atlanta be without it's glorious old buildings???? Houston!
Susan H. ChandlerI am shocked that Georgia Tech would even consider the demolition of this architectural treasure. Surely the University will reconsider its position now that the community has risen in opposition to the plan.

Travis CowiePlease preserve this building. How many more of our historic buildings can we lose and still maintain a sense of character in this city? We tear down these great old buildings and then lament their loss for years to come.

John WolfingerI remember the Crum & Forster building when it was the only beauty spot in what was once an urban wasteland along that stretch of Spring Street. Now - it deserves to serve a new life as a reminder of the old Atlanta that once flourished in that area.
Sam Bearden, AIAAs an alumni of the GT Arch program I am stunned by this decision. I would hope our Institiute would lead the way in the preservation, conservation, and development of Atlanta's urban fabric. There is considerably more imagination at the disposal of GT than is being exhibited.

Jim HacklerI truly appreciate Ga Tech's revitalization of the area - but would hope they'd see the value of integrating historical jewels such as the Crum & Forster Building into the expansion of their campus. I actually live a few blocks away. Sincerely, Jim Hackler
John ThreadgillAs former Chair of the Atlanta Urban Design Commission and a resident of the Midtown neighborhood where this buildng is located (in fact I could see it from my living room window), I am deeply disappointed in the Georgia Tech Foundation for not recognizing the historical and architectural importance of this building. Might I suggest that the appropriate use of this building might be a "Center for Architecture" that celebrates the Institute's contributions both to the profession and to the ongoing dialogue about architecture within the community and beyond. This would be an appropriate use for a building designed by someone so integral to the architecture program at the school.
Pace PickelAtlanta has already lost too much of it's history to the wrecking ball.

Lori BlaylockTech, Please reconsider your position on the demolition of this building. Repurpose, Rework and Reuse. Be responsible environmental partners.

AnonymousAs an Atlanta Architect and Ga. Tech graduate, I think it a shame that this great Neoclassiscal building is planned for demolition by Ga. Tech simply to accomodate streetscape improvements. Seems like Tech could preserve the building and perhaps adaptively reuse it for another purpose.

Jeff McCordStop the loss of Atlanta's historic buildings! Let's respect, protect and restore the increasingly threadbare fabric of our city's history and culture. Who wants to live in a soulless city?
AnonymousGiven the number of surface parking lots and uappealing buildings in the vicinity, it seems beyond short-sighted to tear this one down.
AnonymousAs a donor to the Georgia Tech Foundation I feel I must question their decision making process in this matter, or ask for my money back! This combined with the Sembler deal, also by the Georgia Tech Foundation, it deeply worrisome.

Brandon GodwinRegardless of modern advancement or expansion, we have a history and a past that whether positive or negative, brings a certain element to the overall composition of our present state. I am disturbed to see so much of Atlanta's and other prominant cities' growth come at the cost of demolishing valuable pieces of its past. Brandon L. Godwin 5th Year Thesis Student & Active A.I.A.S. 1234 Suzy O'NealI am from Perry, GA and have lived in Georgia most of my life. I have a BLA from the University of GA and attended the MBA program at GA State. As both a Landscape Architect and a Certified Planner I know that it is possible to build for the future and preserve and honor the past. Based on my professional expertise and my personal beliefs, the Crum and Forster Building should be saved.

Nathan BrownPlease do not destroy a building with historic importance such as this over the issue of a 15 foot sidewalk. Will it really imped the design if the sidewalk is 12' instead?
Karri Hobson-PapePlease save consider the beauty and tradition.
