The exhibition in the foyer at the Learning Trust a few years ago about CLR James was also an invaluable source of information.Flag

Name: Chris Dunne on Nov 14, 2010Comments: I was at the inaugeration of the CLR library It is ineed an honour that Hackney recognises one of the greatest west indian writers of politics and sport. Within Dalston lives a lively west indian community and naming the libary after one of it's greatest black heroes, gave ownership of the library . To remove such a honour will be to the shame of the borough and show short sightedness and meaness of it's political leaders. A shame that such a move comes at a time when the fortunes of Dalston are on the rise due to the tube link .Flag

Name: Agnes Sam on Jan 31, 2011Comments: I cannot understand the reason why the name of CLR James should be removed from the Hackney library. I strongly object to what amounts to dishonouring this great man. Removing CLR James' name from the library in Hackney is one method of removing him from the memory of young people who do not know about the name and what he has achieved. There are very few role models for young people from the Afro-Caribbean community in this country. CLR James is someone young people may look up to.Flag

Name: Anthony R Davis on Feb 27, 2011Comments: It seems too me that things are changed, just for the sake of it, without no thought to our past. My father was born in Hackney, but would not know the place now. People who do not remember thier past have no future. I now live in Australia, and every time I visit the UK, something of importance seems to have vanished, never to be seen again. I was born in Bethnal Green; the last time it was green, was in 1540. On my last visit, most of the eastend was just trees, and wastland. Over 500 hundred years of history wiped out in 30 years. Wake up Great Britain, be proud of your past.Flag
