We, the undersigned, hereby petition NASCAR, the National Stock Car Racing Commission and/or its Commissioner, Charles D. Strang, to reconsider the hefty penalties levied against driver and team owner Carl Long. We believe that the fine and suspension are disproportionate to the rules violation and demonstrate a lack of compassion on the part of the sanctioning body. We believe NASCAR, the National Stock Car Racing Commission and/or its Commissioner, Charles D. Strang, should apply common sense and compassion and reduce the penalty.
